Moderator: Hope you can help me with this. (1) Is there a time limit we can see our closed listings? Do items expire in, say, 60 days or such?

I had an unsold auction item saved there, hoping to relist it this fall. It's gone.

(2) I tried to look at my sales archives but I can't seem to access them. I put in dates, but I get a lot of gobbledy-gook from Windows and nothing seems to work.

I'd like to find this closed item so I don't have to re-write the whole description, which was rather complicated.

Thanks in advance. ~Adele

Hello Adele,

What is the listing number? Let me know and I will check to see if it is still available. In the meantime, here is some information on how the archive works:

The auto-archive feature will archive your closed sales after 12 weeks in order to reduce the number of unused closed sales stored in our system. To archive your listings, simply click the check-boxes next to the items you want to archive, and then click the "Archive" button under the closed list.

Note that there is a restore function which will allow you to restore auction data that has been archived. This function will allow you to restore data for only a limited time after it is archived (generally 2 weeks), so please be sure to remember the auto-archive intervals set in your account. To restore your items, go to Sales Manager -> Sales Archive (in the left navigation bar) -> Restore Items. Please be aware that once your items have been archived permanently, they cannot be restored.

If you find that you are relaunching auctions from your closed section frequently, or you want to retain listing data for templating purposes, you should save your auctions to Inventory as you list them. This will save a copy of the auction which can then be relaunched at any time. Note that by using Inventory, you will be able to organize your listings in separate folders which will allow for greater efficiency and ease of use. You can also easily list a single inventory item to any venue, which will save time if you are using multiple venues.

If you want to copy a particular closed item to your inventory for future relist, follow these steps:
1) Go to the 'Closed' section of control panel
2) Select the item you wish to copy, and click the 'relist' button
3) Click on the 'edit' link next to the selected item
4) Scroll to the bottom of the item listing, click the box next to 'save this item in my inventory', then click the 'save' button
5) Cancel relist if you wish to just save and not relist the auction

Note that the listing will be saved into the "unfiled" folder.

You may also disable auto-archive by clicking My Account -> Global Preferences.

Regards,
Nathan

Nathan: Thanks very much for your fast reply to my questions.

I've disabled the auto-archive feature now. Alas, I don't have the item number of the lost auction description. I suppose if I could supply that, I'd be able to access it?!

And thanks for the info on how to use inventory. I never have done that but have saved your tips for future use. ~Adele

Hello Adele,

Try this. Go to "Sales Manager" --> "Sales Archive" --> "Restore Items". Then browse the items that are available there. If you find the item in that list, then you can select it and click "Restore" to move it to your Closed Listings. If it is not available there, and it is also not available in your Closed Listings, then it was archived too long ago to still be available. The basic information would be available by using the "Download Archive" option, but the listing description would not be available in that file.

Regards,
Nathan

Thanks, Nathan. That's what I tried first, and I cannot see ANY of my archived auctions. Some glitchy thing with Windows Vista, I suppose. Frustrating.

Hello Adele,

Try using a different browser and see if that helps. (Such as Internet Explorer instead of Mozilla Firefox, or Mozilla Firefox instead of Internet Explorer.)

Nathan

Nathan: I use Firefox. I'll try using Internet Explorer and see if that does it. Do you folks have any information as to problems with the Vendio/Windows Vista interface? I'm still unable to upload a large group of photos. (Wish I'd never gotten WV!)

Hello Adele,

I do not have any updates on a replacement for XPress Image Publisher for use with Windows Vista (to upload images in bulk). Have you had a chance to try using Sales Manager Pro to do this?

Regards,
Nathan
