I was doing some maintenance on my images and as I was deleting some - later I would see the same image with numbers behind it - like nipponnew_233585.jpg.
I didn't do this and there are allot of them. Where are they coming from and how do I stop this from happening. Very time consuming and as it one my current listings photos as well I don't know if I can delete it?

Hello,

This usually happens if you upload two images with the same file name, and when the second image is uploaded you choose the option to automatically rename the second image.

If the image is currently in an active listing, then please be aware that if you delete the image it will no longer appear in the active listing.

Regards,
Nathan

Hello,

This could happen if the original image with the same file name exists in your online account, but not in Sales Manager Pro, at the time you add the second image with the same file name to Sales Manager Pro. However, if the original image currently exists in Sales Manager Pro when the second image with the same name is added to Sales Manager Pro, then this would not happen.

Please note that Vendio does not rename your images unless the option is selected to automatically rename one that is a duplicate.

Regards,
Nathan

Is the option in preferences or is it asked each time?

Hello,

It is not an option in preferences, but is asked at the time the images are uploaded. I did find another image in your account with the name "nipponnew.jpg", so it does look like that is what happened in this case (or the number was added to the file name before it was uploaded).

Nathan

Sorry Nathan, but I think this is a problem with Vendio as I only upload photos in SMP - or 99% of the time anyway. It NEVER ask me if I want to rename it.
I'll delete all the dupicates but has this increased my bill in anyway?

Hello,

Before you delete the duplicates, please note that the *file names* are duplicated, not the *images* themselves. The example that you had provided was uploaded last July. Do you have any other examples that are more recent?

This has not increased your bill.

Nathan

Here's one that is more currently. kaganstylechair6_250935.jpg
I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "*file names* are duplicated, not the *images* themselves" The photo is there again as well as the name.
Anyway - have to call it a night for now.
Thanks

Hello,

Numbers are added to images upon an import. If you trigger an import from eBay to catch any items that were done outside of Vendio or simply to catch items that somehow went missing, the system will reimport the images for an item number not already in the system. If the images are Vendio images they are already in your account with that name, so the system adds numbers to them during the import process.

I would avoid deleting these images as if you went to relist one of those imported items with the new filenames for the images, you could risk relisting it without the images attached.

Regards,
Christopher

OK - now that makes sense.
Thanks
