thanks but if I don't know the names of the stores, how can I search for them. Isn't there a list of stores that I can go through??
Suppose someone wants to go to Vendio Stores just to see what they are selling. I was thinking of getting a store but how would the buyers find the item???
There is no actual list of Stores that you can browse. The purpose of the search is if someone is looking for a specific item, or type of item, then they can search Vendio Stores for any items that matches the search criteria. If you get your own Vendio Store, you will have your own URL for the Store, and you can provide it to your buyers so that they can browse your Store.
Niel35: This depends on Google, and the search terms that are entered. The item will appear in a Google Product Search (formerly Froogle). It will also sometimes appear on the main Google site, but this depends on the search results and how Google decides to show those results. In order to be sure that the items appear prominently in a main Google search, you would need to purchase Google ad words through Google.
Tom and Ralphie: At this point your other option would be to open an account with Shopzilla, and Vendio will also automatically send your items to Shopzilla on a daily basis. While Vendio does not charge you for this, please be aware that Shopzilla does charge for a Shopzilla account.
Note that there is also the option to automatically include a link to your Vendio Store in your eBay listings (when listing through Vendio). You also might want to consider subscribing to Buyer Appreciation (a free Vendio service) that automatically sends a thank you note to your eBay buyers and/or bidders. You have the option to include a link to your Vendio Store in these emails.
We are planning on making some major changes to Vendio Stores in the near future, which will include additional ways for your buyers to find your items. Unfortunately, I do not have any more specific information available about this currently.
I have had a vendio store since I joined up and it does very well. The average sale is higher than ebay, no one complains about the shipping (priority at $5.95) and no one cares about feedback.
You need to submit your url to all of the search engines just as if you had your own domain. You need to fill it up and make sure it has lots of content. Mention it on your ebay my page, live journal, squidoo, etc. Put a flyer in your packages.
Google told me that the vendio stores have the same problem that any of the hosted stores have and that is the name that gets out is vendio (or ruby lane, tias, etc), not "Ralphies Earthy Delights". They suggested that I NOT show my ebay items in my store (you have that option), use keywords in title and description and submit my url everywhere.
I come up pretty high in the google search for specific items. For example I just had a guy contact me because he searched: vintage cereal ads (I was number 3 on google).
Whether it is here, ecrater or blujay, YOU are going to have to do the work to get customers.
