The item descriptions for my auctions and store are twice the size that they should be. What is causing this problem? I have done nothing but add specifics.

Just a few of the item #s are -

300202520388, 220207675665, 220207675666, 300203369410, 220206527898

When I view those auctions from either of my PCs or my MAC, the description is almost two pages wide. The images appear to be causing the problem.

Any answer as to my problem. I cleaned my cach on all the computers, so that is not the problem, and not all of my items have this problem. It appears that only those items which were recently launched to ebay are experiencing the wide page problem, which seems to be caused by the images.

I know that everyone is busy patching the Vendio system. However, I need to know so I can continue to launch new items.

Hello,

The issue is with the size of the image you specify as the eBay gallery photo.

Ever since eBay made the gallery photo free, if you specify an image for the gallery and that image is very large, eBay will put that photo at the very bottom of your ad in it's original size. As a result, if that image is really large, it blows the page out as wide as it needs to be to fit the image.

While on larger resolutions it doesn't make it where you have to scroll, small monitors and lower resolution settings will make it where you need to scroll to view it right to left.

The alternative is to NOT specify an eBay gallery image. eBay will put your image into the gallery anyway, but when you don't specify which one you want and allow them to use the default (first image attached) - then they resize it down smaller so it fits the page. It doesn't seem to effect all users listings though, so it may be a glitch they have yet to correct, but the fix is to opt out of specifying an image for them to get the resized gallery picture.

Christopher

OK, new problem. I originally selected the gallery option. Now, I am unable to unselect the gallery option. What to do?

Hello,

Just click the red X below that photo where you attach your images, so it removed the eBay gallery image itself and leaves just the regular attached image/s.

Christopher, I am assuming you mean that I should revise the auction on ebay, because it will not unselect in the Vendio program.

Does this mean that I will have to revise after listing each item?

If I am wrong, and there is a way to unselect gallery in inventory, please do not keep it a secret, as I will be launching the same items on Wednesday. Oh me....

Hello,

I was actually talking about the regular listing form, where you attach pictures and you can click little red X's below them to detatch them from your ad.

In the Inventory section of our older Merchandising Edition of the Sales Manager you do not have that option.

You will need to test one to see if this works for sure or not, but edit the item in inventory and then edit the eBay site specifics. Change the gallery setting from using a specific image to using the first attached image instead, then save the change and launch the item.

This *should* essentially do the same thing, but try it with one of the items first before doing the rest and let us know if it doesn't work.

Christopher

Well, as things would be, your suggested fix does not work.

I had fun revising the pictures on the ebay items.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

bump - hey, don't forget me. Perhaps Vendio can unselect the gallery items for me.

Revised and relisted listing #300204399245, problem still exists.

Currently, store item #300204151553, which was revised on ebay, is not displaying a Gallery, only shows "no picture"

Apparently, I'm one of the fools who are paying for this fiasco. How about letting me receive the value of what I'm paying for?

Hello,

I did a little more digging and after speaking with some eBay reps this is going to remain the same for future listings unfortunately.

The workaround for now, for users listing specifically from the Merchandising Edition of the Sales Manager only, is to schedule your item to list at a later date.
Next, go to your Vendio pending section, click on the title of this item, and 'undo launch.'
Now you can edit the listing to detatch the image listed specifically as the eBay gallery photo prior to re-scheduling or launching now.

We have a request in to the engineering team to somehow change the SMME inventory system to allow working around this, as eBay's only suggestion to avoid this was to "use smaller pictures in the first place" unfortunately.

For that item you manually edited the gallery image on yesterday, you will want to do it again and this time use the following URL when asked:
http://imagehost.vendio.com/bin/imageserver.x/00000000/kozersky/.mids/3281xmasseals.jpg
(as this is the smaller version, so they can use it without blowing the page size way out.)

Christopher

Christopher, thank you for the fix on the revised ebay item. It is now correct.

I will follow your instructions on the listing of previously created items. I do hope that this is corrected shortly, as many of the items are my bread and butter items, which are listed every other day, throughout the week.

Oh me .. newly created items that are listed at ebay also have the enlarged image and description. What gives?

Item #220209876410. I didn't revise it.

Would I have the same problem with Inventory Edition?

Hello Bill,

This is not a problem when listing through Sales Manager Inventory Edition. However, in the meantime you can work around the problem for new listings by not selecting any image as the eBay gallery image. eBay will then automatically use the first image in your listing as the eBay gallery image, and the smaller version of the image will be shown at the bottom of your listing description instead. I checked this listing and it does appear that a specific image was selected as the eBay gallery image. You may remove the eBay gallery image from your Vendio listing form in the "Select Images" section by clicking the red X for the image under "eBay Gallery & Photo Preview Image".

Regards,
Nathan
