Am I the only one that finds the international shipping calculator to not work on at least half of my auctions?
Not just now, but since forever.
I got three e-mails from the UK today asking for a shipping quote, and I'm used to this, but kind of tired of it; who knows how many sales I lose because bidders are suspicious of a non-working calculator.
Good example:
I have 4 auctions running right now off the exact same template. I wrote the first one, then I copied it and tailored it to the other listings and launched them.
300238319167: calculator doesn't work to the UK (or anywhere else international, probably)
2 of the others don't work either, but on
300238331099: calculator works.
Looking at them .... the one that works involves international priority mail, the others involve international first class.
Can you see any reason why I seem to run into this so often? Is there something you can see in my listings that's goofing it up?

Hello Kathy,
It looks like the shipping information on listing "300238319167" was revised through eBay after the listing was listed. Do you have an example that has not been revised where this is a problem?

Hello Kathy,
Thank you for the information. The problem with these listings is that you are offering USPS First-Class Mail International as the shipping carrier, and you are also requiring insurance. USPS does not provide an insurance option for First-Class Mail International. The solution is to do one of the following:
1. Offer a different international shipping option that does offer insurance.
Or
2. Set international insurance to "Not offered" when listing your items.

A ha. Yep, that makes sense to me now. I offer it because I use Endicia and can insure first class parcels, but didn't think about it tripping up the calculator.
I'll stop doing that and find another way to communicate the need for insurance over a particular value.
Thanks!
I really appreciate that you figured that out so quickly.
