The maximum shipping is $3.00 for one video but for multiples/lots can be up to $10 (and more if you a very large quanity). I had several re-lists that errored because I exceeded the maximum allowed for one video but they were for lots of more than one video. How does one distinguish between selling one and selling multiples?

Hello,

The multiple quantity would be indicated within the description of the listing. While eBay does allow higher shipping costs for multiple quantity listings, they have stated that a shipping calculator must be used in this case. You would need to change your shipping from fixed to calculated to list in that way for this category. Please see the following eBay announcement on this:

Nathan

Hi, Nathan:

I was just on the phone with eBay and there is a spot on their listing page where you can indicate how many pieces are in a LOT of items. It would be in the "choose how you'd like to sell your item" section and it's next to the "quanity" box - there's a "lots" box. Can you please forward this info to tech so they can add it to the Vendio listing page. I do not want to use the shipping calculator. All my items have fixed costs and that's pretty much how I want to keep it. Also, you are incorrect on when eBay suggests you use the shipping calculator. It's suggested use is for espeically heavy or big lots. I'm basically mostly concerned with costs for between 2 and 10 videos.

Hello,

I am taking this information from eBay's FAQ, located here:

http://pages.ebay.com/sell/August2008Update/OtherFAQ/

The specific text on this eBay FAQ is:

"What can I do if the maximum shipping and handling costs do not cover my expenses for packaging and shipping?

The maximum shipping and handling cost may not cover sellers' shipping costs in some cases. In the event that it does not, you can do one of the following:

* When selling a bundle or quantity of items, you can use the shipping calculator to charge actual shipping charges."

However, I do see how being able to enter the quantity for the lot would be useful, and I am forwarding your request to the product manager for evaluation.

Regards,
Nathan

Nathan:

If you look on the list of costs allowed for different items, you will see that up to $10 is allowed for between 2 and 10 videos in one lot. That is just one example. Vendio needs to follow suit with eBay's listing page to allow the seller to denote how many items are in a single lot, so they charge their shipping costs and not exceed the guidelines issued by eBay. I'm not sure you understand this, since you keep going back to using the shipping calculator. Thank you for forwarding this issue to tech.

toyspast,

Just an FYI. Ebay rep told me I have to list in the "wholesale lot" category to charge the higher shipping.

I asked them why I couldn't just indicate there was more than 1 item in the "lot size" option on the listing page but they told me the fees were category specific.

And, that anything listed in the DVD category would be held to the $3 max unless you use the calculator and specifically spell out why you are charging more inside the listing.

Even then, they said it should be the exception and lots should be listed under wholesale category.

I didn't want to list under wholesale lots but unless they've changed their minds, it was the only option.

Thanks, Favorites. I didn't even realize there was a wholesale lots catagory, but that will be a good alternative until this is straightened out. I'm not sure if you've tried to list using numbers over 1 in a lot and it didn't let you charge more than the $3.00 or not - unclear. But that is what an eBay rep told me I could do which Vendio does not provide. Until Vendio adds this, I won't be able to see how it works, because I'm too set in my ways to list directly on eBay...8-) I've also just been listing in other catagories, for instance, if I had 3 Harry Potter videos, I'll list in the Harry Potter catagory under toys instead of the video catagory. Whatever works....

No, I didn't try. I just took them at their word. At this point I'm terrified of being the next one to wake up with my account suspended and I refuse to give them any ammunition to do that.

Favorites, you wouldn't be suspended if you tried to launch a lot of videos using the "lots" section of the eBay listing page. Not sure why you would even think that. If you were trying to circumvent the fees by putting that you have 2 videos when you only have one, then that might be grounds to send a warning. But if you're selling 2 videos and put 2 in the 'lots' section, then you are doing what you're supposed to be doing.

If you go against their policy, even if it lets you, then you can be suspended. Or at least that is what they posted on the special board when they announced the changes.

That is why they said you couldn't take advantage of using the calculator and charging more. They stated they would be "watching" the activity.

Favorites, you're sounding a bit paranoid to me, but this has nothing to do with my post. I'm not asking about using the calculated shipping costs - in fact - I specfically DON'T want to use the shipping calculator. What I want is Vendio to ADD the "lots" section of the eBay listing page so that I can specify when I have more than one video, so I can, BY THE BOOK, charge more than $3.00. eBay allows a seller to charge UP TO $10.00 when selling more than ONE video in a LOT (up to 10 videos). I am not looking to BREAK ANY RULES. And I'm not sure how new you are, but eBay will typically send a warning when you break a small rule. I've broken several over the years, none intentionally, and they just end your listing and send a warning. If you keep doing the same thing on a regular basis, you will be suspended. This type of "infraction" if there was one, especially when it has to do with a new policy, is they issue warnings and/or end your listing. The eBay police won't be breaking down your door and hauling you off to eBay prison, so RELAX!!!

I've been selling for 10 years. lol

I'm just not taking any chances at this point. Paranoid? Yes, ebay made me that way. They are not very seller friendly under the new chief.

Hello,

toyspast - do you see the option you want on the eBay listing form, for what your looking for Vendio to add?

I went to eBay to check out the DVD category and how they list the available quantity, but didn't notice anything about lots here.

We just want to be sure that the feature your requesting both exists and is detailed correctly.

Chris

Yes, I just looked to make sure. You have to click on the "add or remove options" and then click on "Lots" and it will add that option on the listing form. Not that it matters, but I'm looking at vhs - not DVD's.

Hello,

I see it now, thank you for pointing that option out. The request to add this feature has been added as Nate mentioned above, and hopefully its something we can add in the future.

Regards,
Chris
