I have just listed some new items and noticed there is a link for aw checkout. I did not choose this nor is it in my saved preferences. I do not care to use aw checkout. Why is this being put in without my approval and how do I get it out. It is only showing on new items listed tonight

Hello,

I started to check over your new listings, but saw none with the checkout button.
Could you let us know some of the item numbers where this happened, to check into further?

Also, where those specific items came from. There was an error some time back where unscheduling an item, then rescheduling it checked the box, but it has since been corrected. Any details along with the item numbers as to how/where they originated will be helpful.

Chris
I had the box checked to list my pay instructions in the auction description. I just unchecked it and it took out checkout icon but also will not use the pay instructions I had provided. I have been using it this way for years and this never happened before. It has been a while since I listed new items I have just been relisting.some of the numbers before I could stop it are 2621367303 , 2621363832 ,2621354105 and several others if you need numbers. The box I had checked on preferences was under ebay site specifics where it said "Display the following text in the Payment Instructions area of my listing.
(Example: “If you are the winning bidder, please use my AuctionWatch Checkout for fastest processing of your order! Click the Checkout button in the item listing to go directly to my checkout page. You can also click on the link in the email that I will send you after the auction closes.”)"As this stated only an example not taht it would insert the checkout button which it never did in the past. I had my own instructions which had been there for years without the aw checkout showing.By unchecking this it removed the link but also removed the instructions I had. Any suggestions would be appreciated
Mike

Hello,

Just to clarify, all you did was uncheck the box labeled 'Display the following text in the Payment Instructions area of my listing.'
- and that stopped the checkout button from appearing?

The checkout specific box (Include the AuctionWatch Checkout button in this listing.) was not checked, and you did not have to uncheck it also before you continued with those items?

I logged into your account and did an eBay preview with the Payment Instructions box checked, but with the checkout box uncheked, and it previewed without the AW checkout box.
Additionally, I checked some of your currently pending items and they are also showing the Payment Instructions box checked still, but without the checkout box checked, and when sending to eBay for preview, it does not appear?

Hello,

I checked that default back on for you in your global preferences, as that should have no bearing, and added your text back to it. These will only apply when you create brand new listings anyway, as your relists will simply pick up what was there before.

That is correct. All the auctions except for numbers I gave you were relist They were not affected. It was only the ones I listed as new tonight. The aw checkout box was not checked on my preferences.This was the first area I checked. What confused me was the box on the ebay site specifics caused the checkout feature to show.I will try another one with box rechecked and see if it happens again

Chris I just did a test and saved to pendind. It is not showing on ebay preview. When I was creating the auctions ,I changed nothing but category. I did this on the lsting page and not on preference page. I found the problem when I did a preview and only then did I check my preferences. The aw checkout box was not checked. While I was waiting for a reply. I went to the ebay site specifics and unchecked the personal pay instruction box,The next ine I listed did not have the checkout icon. This was what was confusing to me ,The fact it was an ebay preference I unchecked which removed the logo. I will try one more and launch and see what happens, The logo is still showing on the numbers I gave you.

Hi Mike,

When you say you changed nothing except the category on these new items you created, is that to say you are listing via inventory, or applying a profile, where there would be a category already entered for you to need to change?

Unfortunately, if you have active auctions and would like to disable the checkout button, please remove all code between these tags in the item description:

<!-- AwChEcKoUtStArT -->
[...]
<!-- AwChEcKoUtEnD -->

You will also need to remove this paragraph from your description as well:

<b>Preferred Checkout</b><br>
<hr>
If you are the winning bidder, please use AuctionWatch Checkout for fastest processing of your order!<br><img src="http://imagehost.auctionwatch.com/img/spacers/pixel.gif" width="1" height="3"><br>Click the <b>Checkout</b> button to go directly to my Checkout page.<br><img src="http://imagehost.auctionwatch.com/img/spacers/pixel.gif" width="1" height="7"><br><a href="http://www.auctionwatch.com/wbn.x?src=std&cid=02216ad9a9-99716"><img align="right" alt="AuctionWatch Checkout" border="0" src="http://imagehost.auctionwatch.com/img/buttons/checkout_btn_cartmoon.gif"></a>

Please be careful to *only* remove the above outlined code/paragraphs, or you could alter the appearance of your listings.

I was not listing from inventory .I was listing new items which had never been listed. When it came to category on the create a listing page. I changed category number from 595 to 20. This was the only thing besides description which I typed in that was different. Again I did not change any preferences nor did I check the aw checkout block. I have been listing and relisting for quite sometime on aw. I am familiar with the preferences and have not changed anything in over a year taht would cause this. I just listed anothe item exactly as I did the others and it showed no checkout. Any ideas as to why this happened?

Hello,

Hopefully we will be able to track the cause down.

Ok, now again, you mentioned that you changed the category number from 595 to 20. Why did it already say 595 when you went to create a new item, instead of needing you to simply select 20 from scratch?

Where is this pre-entered number coming from, that you need to change it to make it list to category number 20 instead?

Are you applying a profile?

595 is saved in my ebay site specifics . This is the main category I have always used. Anytime in the past when I listed something in a different category I would just change the numer on the create a listing page, Been doing it that way a long time with no problems.

Chris this is step by step what I did
1 logged in
2 uploaded images
3went to sales mgr
4 clicked create listing
5 title
6 typed in description
7 entered price
8 selected template
9 changed category # from 595 which is saved to 20
10 scrolled to bottom and scheduled.

This was all I did no changes to preferences. After around 5 listings I did a preview and saw the checkout.
I then did these steps
1 checked my aw preferences checkout feature box was not checked.
2 went to ebay site specifics and unchecked the payment instructions box.
3 listed another auction and no checkout.

I am beginning to think the ebay box was just coincidence and had nothing to do with the problem. Hope this helps but as you can see it was just a basic new listing, I only use image hosting and scheduling features nothing else/
Thanks for the help I beleive I have all checkout icons removed

This same thing happened to me, although now I don't know which auction it was for as I have already taken out the "checkout" html coding.
I launched 13 auctions on Marh 9th and only 1 of them had the checkout on it (and I didn't prompt this) so I just assumed it was an AW glitch somewhere.
