Please Please Please hurry and make some improvements to the new listing page!!

This new listing page, while filling some needs for upcoming eBay changes, has been thoughtlessly designed and is adding HOURS to my (and I know I am not alone) work week! It looks like this thing was just thrown together and never tested by someone who has to list a lot items!

Not only are there more "clicks" and waiting for pages to upload in this new format but it's the little things like positioning on the browser page which require a scrolldown to the "continue" button that need "fixing".

The way you have dealt with categories is extremely cumbersome and I am SURE you can come up with another solution...please do it FAST! I was able to list 50+ items/day before but now find that 40 is about my max...IT IS NOT ONLY INCONVENIENT - IT HURTS!!! ( and i have a cable connection - can only imagine what it's like with dial-up!)

I know AW (Vendio) techies can come up with something better..PLEASE..ASAP!

Hello,

We have implemented a change to the create listing process, and we now require that you select the category prior to entering the create listing screen. After you select your category, you will be on the create listing screen (which will be much faster to load now.) The only difference is that we are now supporting item specifics for those categories that offer them (such as tickets - item specifics are required for tickets categories.)

Note that you should select the correct category for your listing *before* you start creating your listing, to prevent the need to edit the category during the listing creation.

This process should really not take any longer than the old method if item specifics are not required for your listing category - can you tell us in a little more detail where you are getting hung up?

Regards,
Christopher

I would LOVE to be able to choose my category on the first screen but unfortunately it defaults to my saved inventory category (even if i change it on the first page) so that I am REQUIRED to edit it later on in the listing process. I am unable to create a saved Inventory profile without selecting a default category so I randomly selected "other california" 20203 - a category i use about 10% of the time - the other 90% of the time i am scrolling hitting "continue" after first page..waiting for main page to load...then typing my item description..attaching image..waiting for image to attach..then editing editing category..scrolling..hitting "continue" waiting for the page to load..don't tell me this is faster!!!!! The only wait I had before was for the image to attach which is about the same as before...also after i listed an item, "create listing" came up automatically...now i have to select from side menu and wait for it to load...

and while we are at it..how many people change venues midstream?? Why not have users "sign in" to an eBay or Yahoo session at the beginning and be done with it? do we really need to select venue for every item..can't you make it session specific so that if someone wants to CHANGE venues, he/she could do that instead of making ALL of us select it every time???

I sell postcards and the category changes for every item - the inventory profile reflects the different types of postcards i sell and no way could i have a separate inventory item for every type of postcard, every state, every town..well you get the picture.....CHANGE IT PLEASE!!!!!!

Thanks for your help.

No answer yet....I hope you don't think I am a crank unwilling to adapt to changes..there are REAL PROBLEMS here!

Maybe I described my problem wrong - the problem is that when I select a Profile from my Inventory items (as opposed to "new Item" the category attached to the Profile becomes the category on the first page and it will not change even if I try to change it on the first page...(believe me I learned this the hard way)so i ALWAYS have to edit category on the main listing page which takes a bunch of time! All of my "boiler plate" listing information is saved with each Inventory Profile item so it does not make sense to try to save time by creating each listing as a "new item". I list in well over 50 categories so the selection of "category" in my "saved profile" is arbitrary and has been something i have always changed when I listed but never had to wait for a page to load to do so..I am open to suggestions if there are better ways to do this...I hope you are open to taking a look at your new listing page in efforts to make it flow smoothly for EVERYBODY!

I really need help! I am tearing my hair out! I want my life back!

Hello,

We understand perfectly well what the situation you are running into with applying profiles and changing the category preselected with the profiles you apply.

As of right now, using the 'edit category' button or creating category specific profile items to be applied is the only workaround for this issue.

Your comments have been logged as a request to come up with a better workaround for your specific scenario, however there are no announcements currently available as to when or if a new workaround for this would become available.

We are sorry for the inconvenience, and appreciatte your taking the time to explain your situation.

Regards,
Christopher

Thanks Christopher - what was the rush to launch a half-baked change to listing anyway since eBay doesn't even have item specific yet? Seems to me you should get the kinks out BEFORE you make changes! Do you have users test-pilot your changes before launching them?

Can we elect to list the "old way" somehow if we know our category is not going to be item specific or how about a "quick fix" by letting us over-ride the profile category with a change to the first page rather than making us edit on the second???

Hello neglus,

eBay item specifics (attributes) are already required for a number of categories (including Tickets and PDAs), and this will be propagated through more eBay categories shortly.

We are looking at making some changes to inventory profiles that may help you in this situation, but I do not have an ETA as of yet, or a full description of the changes that are being considered.

I do apologize for the inconvenience, and thank you for your patience while we work on a potential solution.

Diana

Hi neglus. Definitely try SmPro! There is no comparison for your situation between the 2 programs. In SmPro you can flip between the pic/ad preview tab, the Vendio defaults and choices tab, and the ebay site specifics tab (with a simple category number box to type into + you can browse the category choice tree right there and it remembers a string of your most recent choices). You can toggle around any part of the listing in any order as many times as you want without waiting for slow pages to load. It's really quick, and if you use the import data feature, whatever you match up in advance is already filled out for you when you arrive, including the category # if you want. (No item specifics support yet, though).
