I have searched and searched for a former thread where some of you gave advice on the digital cameras you use and cannot find it. I need one JUST for auction images. Can you give some recommendations? I want to be able to save them to my computer (duh). Thanks for any help.

Hello,

Personally, I have always loved my Olympus D-460 zoom. Only 1.3 megapixels, but that is much larger than you would ever use in an auction anyway. Plus, I have seen them selling for far under $200 lately, some around $130 if you look hard enough.

Great software to transfer the images, and a really nice program to resize/edit your images as needed. (Camedia)

I have used this on both Mac and PC operating systems and it never caused problems for me until I dumped a bottle of water into the camera bag on vacation. After a week the water dried out and it still works great, however I would avoid that part if I were you.

Regards,
Christopher

Well I have a Canon PowerShot S300 digital - and I love it... except for one thing. It doesn't do macro work very well. Trying to get close-up details (readable focus) is a trying business for me with this camera. It's a 2.1 megapixel camera and is really a supershooter.

I'm an old photo bug from the 70s and I just can't seem to get it to do close-up work. Could be me, maybe I need it on a tripod - but I would suggest trying to make sure that whatever camera you select, make sure it will get in close for those minute details you sometimes need to show.

(nice camera you have Chris!!)

the best digital camera is the one that works best for what you need it to do. I got tired of having to stop and transfer my photos to the camera when memory card was full or when away from home. I then switched to the large, sony mavica so that i could use floppy disks and download at my leisure. there is always a trade off of being large(and cumbersome)also means a nice big screen on the back.i also appreciate any camera(like a sony and probably some others) that has a rechargeable lithum battery pack like a camcorder has. you also need to find a camera that "feels perfect in your hands." You'll know your perfect camera when you find the one that fits.
