Sigh. It seems these days that one of every three people doesn't want to be bothered with filling in forms. They pay with PayPal and don't bother with the WBN.

I thought I had that covered in my PayPal account by refusing to accept direct payments and sending them to the Vendio Checkout url. But they still manage to circumvent the form, and I wind up typing in their names and addresses to do a shipping label.

We sell a lot, so it really does get to be a pain. I have taken to asking every laggard buyer "how did you manage to pay via PayPal and not fill in the Vendio Checkout?"

Anyone have any thoughts on this? Should I just eliminate PayPal's Instant Purchase button from my auctions?

Hi Marshall,

Did they use the Send Money tab to pay you for the item? It can be difficult to try to get people to fill out the WBN -- you may want to try changing the wording of your WBN and your Checkout text to coerce people to go through the form. You can edit these in My Account > Post Sale Management Options.

You could raise the shipping up $1 then say they get a $1 discount if they use the checkout. If they still don't use it then you get paid for your time.

Thanks, Sonya,
And I like both ideas. Yep, some pay directly with the PayPal tab, but others just somehow use PayPal's Instant Purchase and don't fill in the Checkout form.

I actually had one newbie use the Instant Purchase button last week to successfully pay me for an auction she hadn't bid on and that still had two days to run!!

Should I just eliminate the PayPal Instant Purchase? Wouldn't that force all of the buyers to got to Vendio and fill in their information?

Thanks,
Marshall

Hello Marshall,

That would help. In your PayPal preferences, there is an option to block payments sent via the PayPal send money tab, and you can provide an alternate URL for them to visit to go through the checkout process.
http://www.vendio.com/checkout.x

The above URL is one you can provide into this space, as it works as a default location you can send all buyers to, that will take them into your Vendio checkout process instead.

Christopher

Carguy,
Doesnt Matter what you try people do not want to fill this form out, or if they do try most of them cannot access the form. Of Course this is providing that their email system doesnt throw out the WBN as spam anyway. The best thing we have done on our auctions was to include the paypal paynow button we have to edit the WBN response but we cut out alot of annoying how do i pay and what is my total email this way. We even include the preffered Vendio checkout button in the listings but this goes ignored as well.

GOOD LUCK

I gave up on that ages ago. Most people, myself included, simply do not like filling out more forms. We fill out forms to sign up for ebay ID, fill out forms to bid or BIN items... the last thing we want is another form.

I just cut and paste addresses or type them in myself. The Post Sale Acceleration options are really nice for paypal sales, if you can get them to work.

my 2¢,

Rob
