We now offer sellers the ability to include an image in the eBay title bar at the upper left of the view item page (Photo Preview). To enable this picture for your listings, you will need to set up your preferred image style in eBay Site Specifics under the My Account tab (at bottom of that page).

eBay has announced that they will support non-eBay images in the Photo Preview on their site and in their formal interfaces (API) in "the upcoming months." Until eBay supports this feature directly, our technical implementation requires us to upload your image to the iPIX system just prior to launching the associated listing to eBay.

We do not yet fully understand iPIX's ability to receive these images at the rate we require, so we will be monitoring and tuning the launcher as necessary to ensure a high quality service. If iPIX is unable to accept the image in a timely fashion, we will submit your item without this Photo Preview image to eliminate the risk of late launches. Similarly, if the image is over 300 kilobytes (this is the iPIX limit) it will be stripped from the listing at launch. If you find an item appears without the Photo Preview as you requested, you may revise your item to include this image directly on the eBay view item page.

Please also note that the image you select for the Photo Preview will override the selected gallery image, should you apply the gallery option as well. When eBay supports a formal interface, we will adapt our system to work within their structure. In the interim, our implementation will provide the quality image hosting you've always received from Vendio with the added support for the Photo Preview.Learn More

great! thanks! I have my preferences changed..one question though - the first option is to have wording appear in the image spot - "read my description before placing bid" (or something like that) - will that appear on TOP of the image if an image is selected or in lieu of an image?? thanks for working out a "patch"!

OK, let me get this straight - if I select the option in "Global Prefs" for NO image to appear but just the words, "Please read my description"..., that those words will show up in the top left corner of each auction AND I can have my own Gallery photo retained, which appears in the Category Listings and my Seller's List, just like it did before?

I ask because I just launched an auction using that selection AND it had the Gallery Photo selected within the auction details before it launched, just like I always have done. I was expecting the Gallery Photo to show up as it always has in the Category Listings and my Seller's List, AND with the new option selected, I expected to see "Please read my description" in the box at the top left, rather than just a big blank like it has been since these ridiculous eBay revisions.

BUT, what happened is the actual box with the words "Please read my description" appears in the Category Listings and my Seller's List, rather than the Gallery Photo!! Not only that - due to the size of the box, it is completely unreadable to boot! I have since changed it back to having the Gallery Photo selected by going into "Revise This Item", but I'm sooooo glad I did this test run before I launched a ton of auctions and had to change all of them back again!

What's with all this? eBay's fixin' what ain't broke, Vendio's fixin' what IS broke, but breaking more things in the process! I hope it's just a glitch that will be addressed and fixed soon and not really the actual way Vendio & eBay intend the "Fix" to really be!

I recommend to everyone to do a dry run with just 1 auction if you're making any changes to this new stuff, then decide if you want to do all of them - save yourselves alot of grief.

One other thing - when you say "We now offer sellers the ability to include an image in the eBay title bar at the upper left of the view item page (Photo Preview). To enable this picture for your listings, you will need to set up your preferred image style in eBay Site Specifics under the My Account tab (at bottom of that page)". From the way it is explained in eBay Site Specifics, it only allows you to display ONE photo for ALL your items, NOT 1 photo of each item appearing in each of it's auction, I'm talking 1 photo for ALL your items. So if you sell more than 1 item, this option will do you no good.
If you want to have a different/specific Top Left image for each item, you'll need to re-create the existing auction in "Create A Listing" and select the Top Left Image for that 1 auction there, at least I hope so, or will the first image you select while in "Create A Listing" be used for all future auction listings, no matter what items they are? I know, sounds like a dumb option to offer in singular listings rather than in Global selections, but with all these goofy fixes going on, who knows? It pays to be clear!

Do I have the explanations found in eBay Site Specifics correct? Do I have the "Add Top Left Image" in each "Creat A Listing" correct? And, BTW - it would be nice to add that option to all the "Pendings", rather than just in the "Create's" since lots of us launch from there and this would save us from having to re-create each and every one of them all over again.

Hello,

The image that you select to appear at the top (whether it is your logo, the "click to view the description", or the first image in your auction) is what will appear in the top left. The "click to view the description" is not a watermark - it will appear exactly as it does in preferences, with the Vendio logo. Whatever you select on this page will apply to all of your auctions as it is a global preference - it will override whatever you may have selected as a Gallery image (unless you select the "leave blank" option.)

I hope this helps!

Sorry, but I don't understand exactly what you mean by "over ride" the gallery image.

Does this mean that it's either/or gallery or/ top left?
( In other words, one cannot use the same image for both gallery and top left?)
OR does it mean that one's first image will go to top left, and also to gallery?

Sorry to be so dense, but tech-jargon sometimes defeats me in it's non-lateral-ness, and I feel like my Swedish adult students once did, when I taught them English!

Hello uglimouse,

If you select the 'use first image in auction' option, then the first image in each individual auction will be inserted in the gallery and as the image on the top-left.

If you select the 'blank' option, no picture will appear on the top-left in any of your listings and you can select your gallery images as you list.

If you use the 'click to view the description' option, or the 'upload a logo' option, this is what will appear in the top-left and in the gallery for *all* auctions, regardless of what you pick for a gallery image as you list your auctions.

I hope this helps clarify - please let us know if not.

Diana
