We have patiently waited per announcement(s) while eBay is going through its "imaging transition," but the option to apply the specified gallery image (as had always existed previously) has still not returned. "Use 1st Image" is still the only choice available under "eBay Site Specifics, regardless of which image is selected in your software. The rest are meaningless.
Please do advise when the capability to apply the specified gallery image will return, as it is useless now and it is affecting our sales (this information came directly from several of our customers).

Hi Bookdlrs,
The option to use a different image as gallery has been restored! While eBay has made a transition from iPIX to their own imagehosting last week, we also revert to our original imagehosting system.
You are right: the global preference in eBay specifics page did not change. But it only refers to Photo Preview (the image that will appear in all your eBay listings in the upper left corner).
If you want to use as gallery image another picture, all you have to do is simply select it from the list of images in your create listing page. Sorry for the confusion,
