I'm doing something wrong, and I can't figure it out.

In Vendio, I have my preferences set to say that I do take PayPal. In PayPal settings, I have it set to automatically insert the PayPal logo. In My eBay preferences, I turned off the "offer PayPal on all my listings" because I got a Vendio error code and followed the instructions to turn it off.

But, when you look at my auctions, I have no PayPal logos, and down at the bottom I have no bullet point that says I accept paypal.

I never used to have this problem, and now I'm getting a lot of e-mails from customers saying "since you don't take paypal ...."

I DO have it in my auction description, and I DO include it in my end of auction e-mail, but I want the logo back!

What am I missing?

eBay dropped the big one, you have to enable eBay's Checkout to display the PayPal logo properly. Just having it in the item description isn't enough.

This is not correct this have nothing to do with Ebay checkout i have it all and do not have the checkout , go to PAYPAL site and see that your automatic logo insertion is on.

Yes, I noted in my original post that EVERYTHING is on. I just don't get it.

I totally do not want to use PayPal, and I know that a couple weeks ago I had that "smart" logo in my auctions, and then Vendio said something about turning it off, so I did, then I turned it back on again, and .... nada.

Hi Sunnyjo,

Since Paypal has been integrated with eBay, there are a few different options to apply a Paypal logo to your listing. Please let me know what you prefer:

1. A Paypal logo in the body of your description only, with no eBay references to Paypal in your ad and no "Pay Now" button when your listing closes (this is recommended if you are using Vendio Checkout.)

2. A Paypal logo under "Payment Methods Accepted" in your listings (in addition to the one inserted into the body of your description by our system), with the wording "This seller prefers Paypal" inserted and the "Pay Now" button leading to Paypal only when the listing closes (this will also enable your buyers to go through Paypal checkout and may interfere with your Vendio Checkout process.)

3. A Paypal logo under "Payment Methods Accepted" in your listings (in addition to the one inserted into the body of your description by our system), with the wording "This seller prefers Paypal" inserted and the "Pay Now" button presenting Paypal and all other payment methods when the listing closes (this will enable your buyers to go through eBay's checkout and may interfere with your Vendio Checkout process.)

4. A Paypal logo only under "Payment Methods Accepted" in your listings (in addition to the one inserted into the body of your description by our system), with no "seller prefers Paypal" wording and the "Pay Now" button leading to Paypal only when the listing closes (this will also enable your buyers to go through Paypal checkout and may interfere with your Vendio Checkout process.)

5. A Paypal logo only under "Payment Methods Accepted" in your listings (in addition to the one inserted into the body of your description by our system), with no "seller prefers Paypal" wording and with the "Pay Now" button presenting Paypal and all other payment methods when the listing closes (this will enable your buyers to go through eBay's checkout and may interfere with your Vendio Checkout process.)

Just let me know which number you want the most and I will let you know what settings to choose. Keep in mind this is only going to apply to newly listed auctions though -- your currently active auctions won't be affected (you'll need to edit those individually).

Regards,

Sonya

Yeesh.

OK.

I don't use the Vendio checkout or any other automated checkout system. I initialize contact with my high bidders and use an auction management program separate from eBay's, or Vendio's, or PayPal's.

I think, if I understand it right, I want to set things up as described in choice #4.

I want a PayPal logo within my Vendio templated auction listing, down near the bottom near the Vendio logo button where it always used to be.

And I want buyers who scroll down into the "Payment Methods Accepted" area that eBay generates on the auction page to also have a PayPal mention. I would prefer not to have the "seller prefers ....." verbiage but I could live with it if I had to, but I think that choice #4 would be without it.

So I think that's number 4. It doesn't matter to me if they end up using PayPal's "checkout" process through the "Pay Now" button, because I can work with that. But I don't want eBay's checkout system, and I'm not using Vendio's post-sales management system.

I'm getting ready to do a lot of listing, so I wanted to get this solved before I started launching auctions again.

Thanks in advance for helping me with this ... this is worse than trying to untangle a heap of wire coat hangers! LOL

Hi Sunnyjo,

What you will need to select is for Pay Now preference, choose "Show Pay Now button for PayPal only" and for PayPal preference, choose "Tell my buyers that I prefer PayPal payments". With your current Vendio settings it is impossible to not have the 'preferred' message in your listings because as you have found you were receiving errors. But what this will do is give the Pay Now button for PayPal only and it won't enable eBay's checkout.

After you set this up, try doing a listing and if you get errors again let me know.

Regards,

Sonya

Sonya, I'm sorry, but I must be especially dense about this.

I went into My eBay preferences and checked the box you said.

My Vendio preferences I didn't touch, but they include PayPal as a method of payment.

I just launched 2665669367, and there's not a single PayPal logo on there anywhere, and it's not mentioned in the "Payment Methods Accepted" bullet points at the bottom.

What the heck am I doing wrong?

Hi Sunnyjo,

I am afraid Ferretbee is correct. We are going to check into this a little further, I apologize for all of this.

I came here with the SAME problems. I appear to have everything turned on but there's nothing that mentions that I take PayPal in my auction exept my own words. It seems like Vendio's first order of business is to make thing work with their checkout. I do not use Vendio checkout so please include instructions that are for those of us without it. I went off the other night with auctions scheduled to launch while I was gone after having been through PayPal and turning my automated logo button "on". I came home to see that all of my auctions errored out so I turned it "off" on the automated logo. But, other than that I can't seem to get a logo or button or mention that I take PayPal into my auctions.

Hello,

It looks like eBay has changed things again, making it so you have to enable ebay checkout to get the logo displayed properly. I am checking on this though so hopefully we will have an answer soon for you. Hang tight, I know this is frustrating.

I am shamelessly going to bump this up because the problem is REALLY bothering me and I've had to launch all day without any PayPal logo.

Is there ANY progress on this?

Sunnyjo, I cannot for the life of me figure out why you would pay for a service like Vendio and then not use its service. I have been with Vendio for years (yeah, there has been some bumps), but I could not survive without all that Vendio does. From the image hosting, auto launch, step by step communication with customers (all auto), to the checkout system which works fine and allows the opportunity for any buyer to see other associated items during checkout. And by the way, by NOT allowing ebay checkout or PayPal checkout and auto-invoicing, I STILL have the PayPal logos in the body of my description. The PayPal button link is in the Vendio checkout along with all pertinent info for mailing me my payments. Please take another look at Vendio's services, you might be surprized how far they have come. By the way, this is just my opinion, I do not have any ties with Vendio, and I have been pretty vocal against them before when they made decisions for the majority that didn't work well. I do not believe the PayPal problems is theirs. Thank you for listening.

I use everything but their checkout. I tried it and it was the only time during my years with eBay that I had customer service problems, and 2 negatives as a result ... because the buyers wouldn't follow the instructions. I didn't mind the negs as much as I minded having people think that I wasn't providing them with personal service, and I just felt that I was catching the snafus too late for my liking.

I am thrilled with every aspect of Vendio that I do use (image hosting and all phases of auction launching), but I've found an auction management program that has features that are important to me and that I can mold to my own thought processes and levels of control.

If I were to ever want to automate all phases of the process, I would definitely use Vendio for that, because I've been with them for probably 4 years and run a full-time business through them.

My issue seems to be that because I DON'T use Vendio checkout or eBay checkout, apparently I can't have PayPal logos inserted in the auctions. My settings are correct, according to Sonya, but there's a glitch.

I just bumped it because with it being the weekend and all, I was afraid this would slip through the cracks, and apparently I'm not the only one who is disappointed in this turn of events.

I appreciate your input, and I hear what you're saying ... it's just not the right kind of system for me.

I understand and wish you luck. I am also curious about what the 3rd party auction manager might be. Thanks

Hi Sunnyjo,

First off, I would like to apologize for my previous posts. I have checked on this issue and the only way to get eBay to reference PayPal in your listings is if you check the PayPal button and logo option in Global Preferences. There is an option in Global Preferences you can enable that will insert your list of payment types in your listing. If you check that off, you will get the PayPal logo to appear on your listings.

bel2den -- out of the post I did above that outlines different options, which are you trying to achieve?

Sonya

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh..... SONYA!

I've been waiting so long for you to come back, and I guess you didn't understand that:

I HAVE EVERY PAYPAL OPTION SELECTED IN EVERY PLACE I CAN SELECT IT EXCEPT ON THE EBAY SITE BECAUSE VENDIO TELLS ME NOT TO.

It's selected in my Global Preferences. It's selected in PayPal Preferences.

Where the heck else can I select it?

Please don't think this is fixed because it's not.

Obviously I would have selected it in my global preferences.

I think this is a CHECKOUT problem. In other words, I don't use Checkout so I have a problem.

I am SOOOOOOOOOOO disappointed that I can't have logos in my auction unless I don't use Vendio.

PLEASE PLEASE PRETTY PLEASE re-read this post and don't give up on helping me get this fixed!

Thanks.

.... and now that I reread YOUR post, I'm totally confused.

I asked for option #4, are you saying I can't have it but bel2den can pick one?

I am SO confused.

I'm even confused about BEING confused!

All I want is a lousy PayPal button. Isn't there at least some HTML I can insert into my templated copy?

Sunny - My PayPal logos appear in my auctions (I don't use Vendio checkout either)..This is how my preferences are selected and I assume they should work for everyone who WANTS a paypal logo/paypal "PayNow" button their auctions: Make sure you have NOT selected the "recommended" logo insertion option in Vendio Global Preferences..select the other one! Also make sure that your logo insertion and "PayPal preferred" are marked "on" in PayPal.

Hello Sunnyjo,

You have misunderstood what I was posting to you. I know that you have PayPal checked off in every possible place but if you do not plan to use Ebay Checkout then you cannot have a Pay Now button in your listings when they close, and you cannot have the PayPal logos be displayed by eBay in your listings. This is why I told you that step 4, the way you want it to work, will not work unless you allow this to happen. I provided you with an alternative -- we will insert a PayPal logo within your item description but in order to do this you must check off this option in Global Preferences (checked off in red):

Doing that will produce this result within your active listings:

The logo is not clickable but it will display to your buyers you accept PayPal. It does not matter if you use Vendio Checkout or not -- it is the only way for you to get a logo in your auctions at this time. Displaying your payment types accepted does not turn checkout on so this is a safe option for you.

Asking 'bel2den' what he would like to have in his listings is not saying that he can have it and you can't. We know that all these PayPal changes are confusing, and we are working with customers on an individual basis to help them get set up with what they want for PayPal. When we receive his answer, we will instruct him on what settings to check off.

Regards,

Sonya

Neglus, thanks -- I just launched an auction and while I still don't get a "Pay Now" button (that I still want ... someday), I DID get the PayPal logo in the "Payments Accepted" bullet points down at the bottom.

So at least I have a visual.

Sonya -- thanks for putting up with my hissy fit .... this is by far one of the most confusing things I've tried to sort out since I've been doing this, especially since everything was working find just a couple weeks ago.

I should have guessed that eBay would want to maneuver things with PayPal in such a way that would work to their advantage; I just hope that services like Vendio who have relationships with eBay can find a way to get the Pay Now buttons back into our auctions. I'm really surprised that PayPal surrendered that one to eBay.

Again, thanks for all your help, and to everyone who joined this post. THIS is precisely why I stay with Vendio.

Kathy

Sunny - you won't get a "pay now" button until the auction ends..then it should appear to the buyer.

The confusion is not your fault..Vendio still doesn't get that people obediently check the "recommended" option even when it will not get them what they want! That option is only recommended if you DO NOT WANT a "pay now" button in your auction (ie: vendio checkout)..if you WANT A PAY NOW OPTION you should go the "unrecommended" route!
