The little picture appearing at the top of my eBay auctions often is grainy, distorted and not very enticing to buyers...

I notice that when I click "properties" the link comes back to Vendio rather than to eBay picture services. Oddly, before, when the images uploaded to ebay pix services ,the quality was much better. Also, when VD photo service was down, there was always the eBay photo back-up.

Have you made a change in how those photos are handled and are they all of such poor quality?

Hello,

We did not change the way they are handled. I checked a number of your listings and the images on them all came up fine. Most likely this is due to some image compression settings on your browser (a common problem for AOL users). Please try viewing your listings on an alternate browser, let us know if they appear the same there as well.

Regards,

Sonya

I have used IE and cleared my cache...some of the listings come up distorted. I even looked at them on another computer. Check out this auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2199081390&category=20219&rd=1

The bad thing is that often the top edge looks ripply..not something that postcard buyers want to see and I don't know what effect that has on buyers..if they bother to scroll down to the listing to see the real image or not.

My AOL is set to not compress images BTW. I really only use AOL to retrieve my email and do all my browsing with IE.

Are you sure you didn't change the way they are handled?? I remember when eBay first introduced the preview the "Properties" of the preview and the picture at the bottom were IPIX..now they aren't. You must have uploaded at some point and now have them directed to VD URL?? If not..mine are getting handled that way!

Hi Neglus,

I see what you mean -- it looks like it is size related -- those images are compressed to fit within the parameters of Picture Preview and because of some of the detail in the bigger size, it appears to look ripply. I am not sure you can really change that without making the original image smaller.

Sonya - thanks for getting back to me..but you must have changed the way you attach images to listings for the preview..here is an example of a relisted (and now store ) item and the "properties" of the preview and bottom of listing have ebaypic url and not vendio! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2193963906&category=20220&rd=1

eBay pic must have a better method of compressing images??
