I am trying to input auctions tonight, and with all my auctions I fill in the item specifics. Well, I am using one of eBay's words (stoneware) and the auctions are errorring (not a real word) out. To fix this I am just entering as "Other" and then putting in "Stoneware" and they are going in. If I get another Error message, I will leave it as it so that you can take a look.

Had no trouble with entering auctions last night so...is there some kind of problem tonight?

Thanks!

Hi there,

Thank you for letting us know about this. Can you please let us know what specific category you used that produced the item-specifics error? It would be helpful for us in finding the cause of the error.

Thanks,

Diana

Hi Diana,

It's category "Pfaltzgraff" #1237

I have right now an auction that errored out in my pending auctions if you can take a look.

Thanks.

I had the same thing happen with 5 of my auctions. One was "Spode" and the specifics I entered were ALL given...ie: Shape/Candleholder; Material/China;porcelain. Also had 3 auctions (which were simply relists which had launched three times previously with no problem)...Category: China/Porcelain. Minton. What's going on? I see no benefit for having "item specifics" if we're going to continue to have these problems.

I just went in and changed all of the "item specifics" to the little dashes (-)...That seems to solve the immediate problem of launching my auctions (although about 2 1/2 hours later than I wanted). The larger problem is when will this continuing problem with "item specifics" be fixed? Seems there was a problem with this same thing about a month or so ago and, since my Minton auctions (cup/saucer, bread plates, and salad plates) successfully launched before, I thought all was fine in "item specifics" land...obviously, I was overly optimistic as the very same auctions I'd previously launched now get returned with an error message.

i too had 5 or 6 auctions that didn't launch because of iten specific "errors", although I had others which did. I can't figure out why. Some of them, for maker, I had picked other and put in something like "California Pottery", but that souldn't matter. I've done that before and they launched. Another auction, I just selected from the item specific menu, meaning I didn't choose "other" for any of the catagories, yet they didn't launch. Well it's too late now to launch them tonight, I have to wait until tomorrow. but I really wish someone could tell me WHY THIS HAPPENS. There seems to be NO fixed reason. sometimes they launch, sometimes they don't. It's really frustrating. Why even have specific item information if it's so unrliable?

Hello,

There is a bug on eBay for "China, Dinnerware" item specifics set. They, probably accidentally, deleted the possible values for attributes 'Material' and 'Shape'. You can verify this by trying to launch directly on eBay (www.ebay.com) in one of the affected categories (see below).
The only possible resolution is to choose '-' for these attributes until eBay will fix it.

Affected categories:
11430, 29209, 29208, 29207, 29206, 29205, 29204, 29203, 29202, 29201,
29200, 29199, 29198, 29196, 29195, 29194, 29193, 29192, 29191, 29190,
29189, 29188, 29187, 29185, 29182, 29181, 29180, 29179, 29177, 29176,
29175, 29174, 29173, 29172, 29169, 29168, 29167, 29166, 29164, 2227,
2226, 45122, 45121, 45120, 45119, 45118, 45117, 1104, 1103, 1102,
1100, 1098, 1097, 1096, 1095, 279, 12504

Thanks Christopher.

Do you notify eBay of the problem? You would probably get more from them than I would.

There must be more affected categories than what you list, because my problem category is not among your list.

Hi there,

eBay is aware of the problem and I'm sure they will fix it as soon as they can.

Thanks for your patience,

Diana

Thanks...I hope you'll let us know when eBay fixes the problem (either on this board or on the Announcements Board) so we'll know when we can safely use the "Site Specifics" again. Otherwise, it's back to the little dashes...
