Yep! They're gone. I am on a regular PC with Windows XP and Internet Explorer (latest version) and I cannot see any categories past the main ones.

Yikes. Problems, problems, problems. First all kinds of launch errors this week ... now this? What gives?

First I can't launch auctions, now I can't even build them?!

Let me revise that ... NOT ALL the categories are gone ... but check out Pottery and Glass. You can list in Pottery or you can list in Glass ... but there are NO sub-categories. THEY ARE GONE.

This is due to Ebay's latest major change. Now, you select pottery, china.... and this is it.
Next window is the listing where you edit your auction and the ITEM SPECIFICS, such as country, maker, medium, shape, age.
The MAKER you enter will select the sub-category you will be listed in. Too bad if you do not know much about your item. You will end up lost in General Pottery and China. Since searching has been made so complicated for buyers, there is little chance that your item will ever be found. If you have good KEY WORDS in your title and if THEY use KEY WORDS to search, they may find your item.
This is a major issue addressed on eBay Community board. Listing/searching on eBay has become a nightmare due to these new item specifics.
Everyone is talking about it, even in the "real world". I went to a major show today and I never witnessed anything like this before... I heard so many people talking about eBay disaster and negative changes.... I could not believe it. I NEVER heard such loud comments in any events I visited during the past four years. It was like suddenly eBay was coming up alive in the real world. And it was not good!
Well, I am sure it will get better. I hope. Ebay will listen and will corret the mistakes. We all make mistakes. We know.

Thanks Vivabe. I actually did finally figure that out for myself. I haven't listed in pottery/glass in a few weeks and they snuck this one in on me. I think that the same thing is about to happen to the antiques categories. I was sent an EBay Power Sellers survey a while ago about these item specifics ... it took 30 minutes to go complete and I voted a resounding NO. Guess my vote didn't count!

You're right, it's not going to be easy for buyers to find items unless they are using key word searches. Yikes.
