Hi! I am brand new to Vendio and I am trying to upload some of my images. I am going through all the steps, but when i click upload nothing happens. I tried a few different times and still nothing. Any advice on what I could be doing wrong?

Hi Laura,

Have you tried doing one image at a time? If not, please try doing that and let me know if it goes through, or does nothing. If you can't get them loaded please outline the steps you take to upload up to where you get the error. Also, please let me know what your ISP is, browser you are using, and how big your average image is (in terms of file size).
Regards,

Sonya

Hi Sonya! I have tried doing one at a time and the same thing happens, nothing!! Everything seems to go as it should until I click the "upload" button. No message appears saying error, but nothing at all happens. The avaerage size seems to be 1.2 MB. I don't know a lot about picture sizes and things like that so I don't know if that is large or not. I am using my digital camera at the setting we always use.

Thanks for trying to help me figure this out!

Sonya!
OK I think I found something. I tried to do one photo just now and I had to walk away for a minute. When I came back there was a message that said the image was too large. I will try to re set my camera to a lesser quality and see if that helps. Do you know of any way that I can resize the pictures I have already stored? I hate to have to retake them all!

Hi Laura,

The size of your image is what is hindering the upload -- standard image hosting accepts images under 350kb. If you have a graphics program on your computer, such as Photoshop, you can save your jpegs at a lower file size. If you don't have a graphics or image program, there are a couple of web utilities available that will help with this. We recommend http://www.spinwave.com/ for online file compression utilities. You can also download jpeg and gif compression utilities for a minimal charge from http://www.downloads.com.

I hope this helps!

Sonya!
I have changed the setting on my camera to the lowest resolution and that seems to have made the difference. I was able to upload my two photos that I wanted, but now I have a different problem. When I attach them in the listing, they are huge! When I listed through ebay I never had these problems with file size, so I have no idea what to do. Any suggestions for this new problem?

Hi Laura,

We have an image resizing option that you may want to activate -- it will show a scaled down version of your original in the listing, that is clickable. When you click it, it takes the buyer to the full original version. The "click to view larger version" option may be enabled by following these steps:

-Click on the "My Account" tab
-Click on the "Global Preference" link
-Check or uncheck the box for "Automatically scale down large images for faster download and cleaner presentation"
-Click "Save Preferences"

If you turn this on and create a new listing, use the eBay Preview to see how it will look.

I hope this helps!

Sonya! Thanks for all your help with the images. I have it all under control now and I appreciate the info. I do have another question. I am trying to seperate my description info into a few different paragraphs. I type it into the description box as such, but when I preview it (both the quick and ebay), it is all in one continuous paragraph. What am I doing wrong? Also, is there another place I should be looking as a new customer to help me figure out how to list things? I don't know if this is the right forum for this or if I am in the wrong place. I am just kind of playing around and finding things out as I go. I have everything just the way I want it except my description paragraph. I do see where I can add the custom text boxes, but I want this info right in the description. I see a lot of examples on ebay of people who have multiple paragraphs in the description, so I am sure it is something I am doing wrong. Also, some people have the description paragraph centered, but I don't see how to do that when I click edit description text in template workshop.

Thanks for all this help!

Hi Lauralee, perhaps I can help. Up until last week if you wanted to start a new paragraph you had to use the following symbol <p> You would put that at the beginning of the sentence where you wanted to start a new paragraph. This is what is called HTML. This is a special computer language that allows you to do things like that. For instance <b> means bold-<br> means sentence break. But as of last week eBay has been messing up Vendios HTML and to start a new paragraph you have to use the following HTML. <br><br>. That is basically doing a sentence break twice. There is a thread on Vendio right now by Christopher that refers to this. There are about 57 replies to it right now. As you are brand new you would be better off not reading too much of it as it can get confusing. Some other HTML that can help your auctions look better and are a lot of fun are color changes in your text. To do this use the following <font color=red> or whatever color you want. Remember that everything after that will be red. So if you want to end it somewhere and go back to black or another color use the following after the last sentence you want in red. </font> That negates the red print. If you want, take a look at one of my auctions under voila66 and you can see what I mean. Another fun one is to center a few words - use <center>YOUR WORDS and then </center>. You can see that also on any of my auctions. Good luck and welcome to this crazy world. The folks at Vendio are great and very helpful. Steve

Hi Laura,

In addition to the tips from Steve, I'd like to give you the URL to a page on eBay that lists some basic HTML tags:

http://pages.ebay.com/help/sellerguide/selling-html.html

If you have any trouble with this, please let us know.

Thanks to both of you for the help! I did learn a little html when I was listing with ebay. I wasn't aware I could use it in that description box! I will give it a whirl right now. Hopefully I'll get my first listing through vendio launched tonight!

Thanks Again for the info and help.

Laura
