I tacked this question onto someone else's thread yesterday.

Could you please look at another problem for me?

I have a buyer who has tried 6+ times to make a Vendio store purchase but can't make her payment via Paypal. One of the latest order numbers is 838743385

Her telephone number is entered incorrectly as xxx-xxx-xxxx-xxx-xxxx, that is, area code followed by two iterations of the telephone number.

Paypal won't allow her to register and pay because it sees her telephone number is incorrect, and she cannot seem to access her information to make a correction.

I even tried sending a direct money request from Paypal, but she couldn't make the Paypal payment from that.

She is in Guam and wants the merchandise right away for a teaching unit as soon as school starts next week.

Help! This is one of those times I wish I had a merchant credit card account.

New Year's resolution time!

Hello,

She has checked the 'remember my info' tab most likely, if she is finding that she cannot find the page to correct it when going back through the Vendio storefront.

There is a link to forget the information that she could use, as well as 'back' links in the checkout process where she could go back to edit the phone number to whatever she wanted.

I would however be hesitant if they cannot submit funds to you directly when you send a money request direct from PayPal. Being overseas and having trouble submitting funds, unfortunately, smells of fraud. That may not be the case here, but I doubt the formatting of her phone number in the Vendio checkout would effect their ability to simply submit funds direct from the PayPal website, essentially bypassing any eBay or Vendio requirements.

Sorry we don't have any definate workaround for this situation, but whatever is keeping them from being able to submit funds from paypal directly will certainly keep them from doing the same be it redirected from eBay or Vendio.

Regards,
Christopher

Thank you for the voice of reason!

I suspect either user error ... or the unspeakable.

Funny thing is, she wants to know if I ever ship before receiving payment. I suggested she send a postal money order ... or even a personal check.

We'll see what develops. Hmmmm.

Thanks again! and Happy New Year!

I'm skipping out on my shipping chores today!

Actually, this is not necessarily so.

I had a customer who did the same thing recently...entered a wrong phone number on the checkout page and then could not submit Paypal payment because of it. It was a repeat customer and there was no question of fraud.

Using the back button link did not work; she tried it and I also tried it myself through her link.

We worked it out by my sending her a Paypal invoice. You could also try to go in and edit her phone number on your end, but I found going through Paypal quicker than unchecking steps, editing and resending.

Regards,
Susan

Hello,

Thanks for the additional information Susan.

It is odd that they were unable to even submit a payment direct from the PayPal website, using your send-money request as that would have eliminated the eBay and Vendio scenario's.

Perhaps PayPal has some issues with registering a new account with international phone numbers.

In this case, the phone system on Guam, a US Territory, is integrated with the US phone system.

The numbers and country code are same as we have on the mainland.

Perhaps Paypal doesn't recognize this factor.

Susan, thanks from me as well for corroborating my story!
