Hello,

When I list an item where the domestic U.S.P.S. shipping and handling amount INCLUDES insurance, under the insurance heading I click "included in shipping and handling" from the drop down menu.

However, on the auction page, when the customer enters their zip code in the auction calculator, the amount (which included the shipping, handling AND insurance) appears in the pop-up PLUS there is a separate line that says "Insurance (required):" with the insurance amount.

This is confusing to my customers when they check out. I am constantly getting emails saying "there is no place to add the insurance that you require" when in order to simplify (I thought) the shipping I made it all-inclusive.

I am also confused about why the calculator would work like this.
It does not make sense to me.
Can you explain it or correct it?

Thanks,
Susan

Hello Susan,

I looked into your account and settings and a couple items but I don't see an example of what you are pointing to.
Could you please give me a couple examples to look at. Ideally one closed item where the customer had the issue you refer to, and one live item that I can check to. This will allow me to confirm the combination of settings you are using that are having this result.
Thanks,
Abe

Closed Item "BIG Himalayan Quartz Cluster - Laser Crystals; Item number: 6600092883"

Active Item "Large Amethyst Cathedral / Geode / Display Piece; Item number: 6598227125" Or any of the Amethyst Geodes.

Thanks,
Susan

Hello Susan,

There are only 3 insurance options for the eBay shipping calculator: not offered, optional, or required, while the Vendio shipping calculator does provide for the "included in S&H" option.

If you intend to cover insurance costs, you might want to switch insurance to "not offered" and make a note about it actually being included in S&H inside the Custom Shipping & Handling Note (see My Account, Shipping and Insurance). Or, you can make insurance optional.

Thanks,

Okay, I adjusted my format on the items where I require insurance and instead of including it in my S&H calculated rate, I checked off "required".

I tried the shipping calculator on the auction page for this newly listed item: "BIG Himalayan Quartz Cluster - Laser Crystals Item number: 6602138009", and discover that when the amount (which now reflects the shipping and handling but NOT insurance) appears in the pop-up there is a separate line that says "Insurance (required):" with NO insurance amount.

I am just trying to make this easy for the both me and the customer on the items where we require insurance, not more confusing.

Why wouldn't insurance required show the insurance cost when insurance included did????

Hello Susan,

There is a note in the eBay Shipping Calculator which states: "Insurance or Loss/Damage Protection charges will be calculated based on the final value of the item(s)". It is likely that actual insurance cost is shown only once the item has closed, and the sales price is known.

Thanks,

-Radu

Thank you;
I did not notice that.

I guess buyers are not the only ones who cannot read!
