I was told by eBay that eBay store will be coming out with 300 store categories and sub categories on top of that. I was told these changed might be out in the next several weeks.

Has Vendio heard anything, and are they ready for it?

Thank you.

Hello,

I'll have to check with the manager's, is there an official eBay announcement about this anywhere I can reference?

Regards,
Christopher

It was one of the things eBay mentioned that they were adding. I called eBay stores yesterday and they said it should be happening in the next few weeks.

Did you get an answer to this one?

I am not opening my store until the category rollout and if Vendio won't be ready when Ebay is (I just assumed it would be a matter of downloading categories similar to what you do now), then I need to know so I can plan accordingly.

Everything I am doing now is in anticipation of the category changes Ebay is making.

I noticed late last night in my preferances that they had the 3 major catagories with all the sub catagories. They must have been doing some Beta testing because after a while it was back to normal. They are getting ready. Most likely they will not tell Vendio and all of the other outside suppliers about it until it happens. They are doing a push to get users on the Blackthorne deal.

Well they are playing with the categories again because my store categories are all messed up again. I was told they will be starting with the new categories in the middle of March by a Power Seller rep. The condition specifications on conditions are going to take another 2 months to finish. All of the outside suppliers of services are going to have their hands full.

Here is Bill Cobb's announcement about the categories:

PLEASE don't say this is the first you have heard of them!

Neglus,

Looks like he said they would be ready for Ebay Express...no mention of being ready for the categories and it looks like Vendio is being very silent on this thread which is usually a BAD sign!

Hope I'm wrong and wish they would just say something one way or the other.

I can't use them if they are going to take months or years to implement the change! I came back to list "lots" in my new store but have to have the 300 categories before I open it.

I know what you mean Linda - this is SCARY!

I never DREAMED we would have to be the ones to tell Vendio about upcoming ebay changes - one would assume that they have an inside track on development or ,in the very least, someone on board whose job it is to READ THE EBAY ANNOUNCEMENTS!!!!! I, like most of you, became aware of the 300 categories more than a month ago when they were announced. I will assume Vendio did too and is working diligently at providing clients with all the tools needed to work in the ebay environment.

This thread is not very reassuring:

Seems we are just having a conversation amongst ourselves.

VENDIO...are you anywhere around.

It is usually very bad news when Vendio ignores a post. Looks like I better go with plan B. Even though I love the click to enlarge photo option for my "lots", the new categories are something I absolutely must have.

Hi,

I apologize that the product team missed this post. We want to make sure you get the correct information.

We were first made aware of the additional categories and subcategories in November of last year to enable us to plan support.

We are awaiting API documentation from eBay concerning these changes. We originally expected this documentation to come this week, and we are following up with eBay to get the new documentation delivery date. Given the early notice, eBay clearly wants all developers to support these product enhancements as soon as possible.

Vendio participates in the eBay Developer's Council and has regular meetings to stay abreast of coming developments. For the most part, we are unable to let anyone know what we know until eBay publicly announces these changes (which they did at the eCommerce Forum earlier this year that we attended along with many of eBay top sellers).

We intend to support these changes near to eBay's Live to Site (LTS) date, but we are unable to completely scope the effort until we have documentation. Any delays here are normal technical development ones seen in pretty much every organization.

Again, apologies we didn't see this post earlier to provide information that could quell the search for conspiracy. Then again, what fun would that be?

There really isn't a conspiracy theory.

Just a fact that many enhancements Ebay introduces are not brought about by Vendio in a timely manner.

And, this one is extremely important to me. In fact, I have no need to make listings now if the new categories will not be supported by Vendio so no need to waste my time or money. (and therefore I need to know what is going on).
