I just had occasion to upload an image with the same name as one already uploaded.
This was intentional, as I had updated the image.
WHAT A PLEASANT SURPRISE!!
In the past, I would have:
1. gotten an error message
2. had to trash the existing image(s)
3. had to empty the recycle bin
4. re-upload the image(s)
This time, I got a red "warning" that gave me three options, including "replace the online image" . With a simple check box, my image was replaced and I was done!!

Hello gaugagaug,
I'm glad that improvement helped - we made some other changes to image hosting when the change you mention was released, so if you are having trouble with anything in particular, please let us know.
