One of my paypal accounts was drained last night!

All unauthorized trasactions in incremants under $175 each, the last one was $6. Absolutly nobody had the password, and I use numbers and words from a different language! This had to be an inside paypal job. I can't believe I see no postings from anyone else this could have happened to.

Just BE ON GARD!

As a matter of fact, I see more people on ebay saying NO PAYPAL. I usually won't buy from them, I liked using paypal.. I think it is time to re- evaluate them.

Paypal is a real pain the last year.
I have experienced paypals web site to be one of the slowest next to etrade. I am sincerely bothered with the recent barrage of offers plus the pages I need to click continue to find my account, the credit card offers and the like, get old quickly. Now, recently, yesterday, today, daily, I have been swamped with those chain letters “You want to make money” they are coming through all of my paypal accounts (email addresses) , somehow. I link this for the reason that the fact these letters are simply delivered to my paypal account email addresses. I have an address for every account I open -

My current anxiety triggered by my phone call to paypal prevents me to elaborate further in a reasonable way... I will continue as briefly as possible .

I called paypal the other day, eventually spoke to a customer care “person” about , yet, another issue, spoke to customer care “person” who was exceptionally belligerent and unaccommodating, a waste of time. She answered the line asking for my phone number, a number I have used on two paypal accounts. She then asked for my checking account number I used on the account “she“ was questioning, I have four checking accounts, I found it to be the second account that had matched. I told her it was not for that paypal account (my first account) I had the problem, she then asked “which account“, I gave her the correct information for the troubled account, I then needed to get my someone else on the phone for further verification. I do not mind the extra security questions, this was not ever a hindrance, the problem was the three short answers with the belligerency the “customer care“ person displayed, she even seemed slightly controlling, trying to direct the call into an open an shut case (they must have a phone time limit).

I explained that I had made a payment twice in error, without my explanation that I had stopped the first payment process to edit etc., after, only to see the final payment twice on the statement. - I asked “how do a cancel a payment“, she says “ nope, sorry you can’t do that” I was in shock, I explained that I had cancelled a payment last year as a consequence I wanted to know why I can’t now, She said “you either need to have them reverse it or wait 31 days”, I did not answer her immediately, she says “hello”, I went off the subject then enlighten her about how it seems paypal has changed, I said it seems ever since your merged I have nothing but problems, she then grumbled, as a consequence to that I merely hung up.

Simply:
I had made an unclaimed payment in the past that I had cancelled with the help of a paypal rep. I went through the help then discovered there was\should be\might be a button that I can cancel on an unclaimed payment. In any case at all, paypals customer care center offered NOTHING but, “nope“, “sorry“, “you can’t do that“. Even when I said it was done before, what makes this different, she said “you either need to have to reverse it or wait 31 days” for a second time.

Now, I had small payments that would be put off because of this. Frankly, I have had it with the increasing problems, annoyances, and lack of help.

I needed to wait through the weekend, contact that person that a payment went to twice, have reverce it or deny payment, I find that inconvenient. oh well...

Then, recently.
I was extorted by the "last second" demand to authenticate my existence - Paypal LOCKED my account with NO notice, and I had to provide bank statments, "photo ID!" bank letter, credit card, and all this other nonsence, after all these years (3) of devotion to paypal, and the countless accounts I have converted buyers and businesses alike to open. I also feel this is an evasion of my privacy, a picture ID? not realistic. I do not have utilities in my name for the simple fact the Phone is 100% conscionable due to high intrest in SBC, therefore is required to be in another name. I do not have credit cards - except a couple debit card, plus paypals. I do not want credit cards, moreover I pay cash or check for everything. I have a few banks with direct payment withdraw for bills.

This was sudden "authentification" , I feel ONE DAY would had been nice, I intendeded to use the paypal debit card for shipping that day! I also had a few monthly payments come out of this paypal account, something I changed. The anxiety and schedulable delays caused that day were distressing.

AFTER they verified I was me and I am not living in China. A day later I had to change all my information online, my password, etc.

HAHAHAHHAH NOW after all that BULLS*&^%

My account drained! Gee, all that hell they put me through was worthless!

Now I wonder who ever did this may be able to screw with the atached bank accounts..

Honestly, if I continue with paypal, I will NOT keep funds in those accounts more than 6 hours.

Any new deals over $400 will need to be bank wire transfer or checks, I can't risk large deposits anymore, to say the least.

I AM IN COMPLETE AGREEMENT WITH YOU. AFTER 2 YEARS USING THEM, I AM NOW CANCELLING ALL TRANSACTIONS WITH THEM. I REFUSE TO TAKE PAYPAL AS PAYMENT FOR ANYTHING ANY MORE. I RECENTLY OVER THE HOLIDAYS SOLD A FEW ITEMS THE CUSTOMERS WEREN'T SATIFIED WITH. PAYPAL HAS A "POLICY" THAT IF YOU DO NOT ANSWER THEIR INQUIRY WITHIN 3 DAYS THEY REFUND THE MONEY TO THE CUSTOMER OUT OF MY ACCOUNT. I WAS OUT OF TOWN AT THE TIME AND AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED NOT ONLY IS 3 DAYS NOT LONG ENOUGH TO SETTLE A DISPUTE, I DON'T SEE WHERE PAYPAL HAS THE RIGHT TO REFUND MY MONEY BEFORE I GET THE MERCHANDISE BACK FROM THE BUYER. NOW THE BUYER HAS THE MERCHANDISE AND THEIR MONEY BACK SO THEY GOT IT FOR FREE!! THIS TO ME IS THE SAME AS GOING INTO A STORE AND SAYING TO THE CUSTOMER "OH YOU DON'T LIKE THE PRODUCT? OK HERE IS YOUR MONEY BACK AND REACHING INTO MY CASH REGISTER WITHOUT EVEN ASKING ME THE OWNER OR GETTING THE MERCANDISE BACK. THIS MUST BE ILLEGAL, POLICY OR NO POLICY AND I PLAN TO PERSUE THE ISSUE ON MY OWN LEGAL TERMS. SO, IF I WERE YOU I WOULD TELL PAYPAL TO STICK IT WHERE THE SUN DON'T SHIHE AND IF ENOUGH OF US WERE TO DO THIS, THEN MAYBE THEY WOULDN'T BE SO HIGH AND MIGHTY. REMEMBER THIS, THEY ARE NOT THE ONLY GAME IN TOWN, MERGER WITH EBAY OR NOT. AND I AM BEGINNING TO FEEL THE SAME WAY ABOUT EBAY ALSO. THANKS FOR THE INSIGHT.

Someone has been sending email that looks like Paypal - it is NOT! IT has an attachment, I do not download - Although, like a fool, I clicked the link to see if it did go to paypal, then, signed in, this could be it.

The headers show: laptop, and it goes through a very evasive web server, not paypal.

That's it. The site is a Paypal site. The attachment however which claims to be a patch for IE6 security installs a keystroke reporting program on your computer which reports to a remote location every stroke you type. All user names, passwords etc. Technically it is a trojan horse. Most virus programs will recognize it as it has been included in the most recent DAT files. If you opened the attached file you need to get it uninstalled immediately. Symantec has more on their site regarding this program.

Why would anyone expect anything less than a major pain in the a** from anything related to eBay. They are absolutely the least customer service oriented company on the web. Recently they double billed my account for fees. After calling their next to worthless cust serv phone #, I was told it would take 10-30 days to reverse the charges and I would have to submit everything via the web. I asked why they couldn't take care of it or transfer me to that dept. and they said it all had to handled via the web and billing dept had no direct line #'s. That is total BS. As someone who works in the credit card industry, I know all it takes is someone to type in the info and submit it to process a refund. Unless eBay has one person in that dept., there is no way it should take more than a couple days. We do most of ours within 24 hours. Oh well, just goes to show when you get too big, too fast, customer service is the first thing to go out the window.

www.paypalsucks.com

Tells it all.

I cancelled them 2 YEARS ago and never went back. They MADE me FAX (unsecure!) all my bank statements, ID, EVRYTHING to them to UNFREEZE THE MONEY ON MY CHECKING ACCOUNT! That's right--if you link your checking account to them, they can freeze it too. You cannot accept payments or pay anyone else.

Some customers will not buy from me because I have the PAYPAL sucks icon at the bottom of every auction. But, oh well....their loss.

Now, eBay's checkout leads the buyers to believe that is the only way they can pay by credit card...people are constantly checking out 5 times or more trying to "figure out" how to pay by credit card since I use my merchant account and not PayPal.

Goos luck---do not use Paypal and your luck will increase dramatically.

One of the things I recommend you do is check your computer for trogens. These are files you may have opened or downloaded through an email. With these programs and your ip number a person can access your computer and steal information by watching your keystrokes when you enter in passwords or by other methods. Some of the more popular ones are called netbus back orrifice ect. That would be one of the first things I would suspect if I found an account wiped out or altered.I dont think itslikley that someone in the paypal system would steal from your account as it would be too easy for them to get caught and the penalties are quite severe not to mention I am sure just as a bank would they screen their employees before hiring. unplug your computer and take it to an expert and have them check your files for any invasive programs. Also there are sites on the web that will screen your computer for trogens look for them in the search engines. There are also a lot of email scams out there telling you they are from paypal and directing you to a site that may look like a official site and when you try to log in it records your passwords and vital info that you enter,Think back, have you received any official looking emails asking you for information or directing you to a website and asking you to log in? I just got a cute little email today inquiring about buying some of my jewelry whole sale and offering me a certain amount for 130 pieces I suspect it is a scam as they want to send me a certified bank check from a us bank.I expect to get a follow up email aski9ng me to return excess funds to them after receiving the check. The big tip off was the name it was signed with Prince Obi I replyed to them and am waiting for a follow up.Once I get the check I will call the bank its written on and verify its validity. I expect it to be a counterfeit.I will then notifiy the authoritys and try to get them prosecuted. As I will tell them the refund will be in the merchandise package in cash insured and will reqire signatures from ups. If the athorities play it write they will have an agent delivering the goods. Wish me luck

I sympathize, but also think that you unknowingly allowed someone in other than Paypal. I also agree that their procedures suck, so you have to keep one step ahead of them.Open a bank account just for Paypal, and don't leave any money in it. That way the most you stand to loose is just whats in Paypal. And figure out about how much you may use Paypal for, and leave only that much in there. They took money out of mine for a customer trying to defraud and I had a hellofa time getting it back, MINUS PAYPAL FEES! I would suggest that if you think enough customers prefer it that you should keep it, just always be prepared to empty it before Paypal can. If you're too busy to know what's going on, then you shouldn't have it in the first place.Be wary of any transaction over $100.00, as they could backfire. The worst that could happen under all these circumstance is that Paypay will try to get money back for something like a false claim, as people put payments in to you.At that point, just close the damn Paypal and tell them to go fish!

I have used paypal since it was new, and I do not leave any money in it. As soon as I get paid I send it to someone else for something I have bought or use it for online bill paying.
