HELLO, I AM A POWER SELLER ON EBAY, AND HAVE OVER 1000+ POSITIVE FEEDBACKS. I HAVE BEEN ENCOUNTERING A VERY BIG PROBLEM LATELY WITH PAYPAL AND EBAY. I HAVE LOST ALOT OF MONEY LATELY USING THE PAYPAL ONLINE PAYMENT SYSTEM. THEIR IS A INGENIOUS SCAM THAT IS GOING ON RIGHT NOW, AND MAYBE THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE EXPERIENCED IT. BUT ANYWAY, PEOPLE ARE PAYING FOR THEIR AUCTIONS WITH CREDIT CARDS, AND AFTER 2 0R 3 MONTHS HAVE ELAPSED, PAYPAL SENDS YOU A CHARGEBACK FORM THAT THE WINNING BIDDER SAYS HE NEVER RECEIVED HIS OR HERS ITEM. WITHOUT ANY DELIVERY CONFIRMATION LABEL, OR INSURANCE, THE SELLER HAS NO RECOURSE. I HAVE LOST ALOT OF MONEY BECAUSE I USUALLY ALLOW THE INSURANCE AS AN OPTION, NOT REQUIRED. IF THE CREDIT CARD FILES THIS CLAIM, PAYPAL AUTOMATICALLY SENDS THE MONEY BACK TO THE CREDIT CARD COMPANY, AND TAKES IT OUT OF YOUR ACCOUNT. IF YOU HAVE PROOF OF DELIVERY, IT WILL TAKE YOU 75 DAYS AT THE MINIMUM TO GET YOUR MONEY BACK. IT IS TRULY UNJUST, TO HAVE THIS HAPPEN TO US SELLER'S, ESPECIALLY WHEN PAYPAL GETS THEIR FEES FROM US, THE SELLER'S. I AM POSTING THIS TO MAKE MY FELLOW SELLERS AND AUCTIONWATCH COMRADES AWARE OF THE SCAMS THAT ARE GOING ON, AND TO BE VERY LEARY. AND WHAT IS FUNNY, ALOT OF THE CLAIMS ARE COMING FROM PEOPLE THAT ARE UNREGISTERED ON EBAY, AFTER THE GOODS HAVE BEEN DELIVERED. WE SELLERS NEED TO INUNDATE PAYPAL WITH PHONE CALLS, LETTERS, EMAILS, TO START CHARGING THE BUYERS THE MINIMUM FEE FOR DELIVERY CONFIRMATION, AND STOP PENALIZING THE SELLERS ALL THE TIME. IT SUCKS WHEN YOUR PAYPAL ACCOUNT IS -$500.00 WHEN YOU GO TO LOG ON, ONLY TO FIND OUT THE SCAM ARTISTS ARE RIPPING THE SELLER'S OFF. PLEASE HEED MY WARNING!!!! IT COULD COST YOU ALOT OF MONEY. LET US SELLER'S STICK TOGETHER, AND CLAMOR FOR CHANGE AT PAYPAL.

to get seller protection for domestic transactions, seller must include online tracking,if you ship by usps, that means 45-55 cents dc.
add this to your shipping and handling to protect yourself.
dc is not enough if you are shipping item over 250,you need signature receipt as well.
if you are shipping light item ,dc will not go thru on post office machine ,so you have to either use a box or make it heavy enough .
also use of dc would not protect you if the chargeback is about item damaged or not as decribed.
you can read all about seller and buyer protection on paypay site,it has been in place for years.
//////////
i won a case where the seller charges me 3 dollars to ship 10 coins and did not use dc,all she has is a post office receipt showing she has shipped to my zipcode for like 80 cents,i never receive the items.
you would think 3 dollars shipping should be enough for the seller to include DC WHICH IS ONLY 55 CENTS

The things that I have been hearing about PayPal lately, makes me very uneasy about having my money go to them. I am seriously considering closing out my PayPal account and going with a credit card company. Anyone have any suggestions as to a good CC company?

many of us accept paypal due to popular demand, would your bidders bark at not using paypal?
for merchant account, you can talk to paymentech of banc one, wells fargo bank, your local bank,if you are a costco member, they have that service too.
but all these have monthly fee, statement fee, minumum fee,and if you want to accept amex and discover, extra fee.
also chargeback fee can range from 15 to 35,there is talk of 50 dollars .
time to make deposit to your bank account can be anywhere from 2 -10 days.
also there is no such thing as not dipping into your bank account,if they can credit your account, they can debit as well.and if you block them when they try to debit ,your bank will charge them an overdraft fee,and they will come back and want you to pay for it,plus interest etc.

Considering the FACT that DELIVERY CONFIRMATION is either FREE for PRIORITY MAIL, or a whopping 0.13 for PACKAGE SERVICES, it is inexcusable for a POWER SELLER not to use it...especially since PayPal ONLY accepts DC as proof of shipping, since it can be tracked online! Insurance DOES NOT qualify!!

If you don't want to follow PP's rules, don't &whine when ya get bit in the butt

HI All,
Here is a scary item to chew on...
Delivery Confirmation DOES NOT TRACK the item shipped.
It DOES NOT even show that it was accepted at the Post Office that you dropped it off to except that it is printed on your receipt.
DO NOT I repeat DO NOT sent the buyer the DC #'s while the package is in transit.
WHY???
I will tell you....If the receiving post office does not scan it in and delivers the item. You then go to the USPS Web site to check the "tracking" and the message say's that they are still waiting for the shipper to drop the item off at the 1st post office.
SO the problem would be like one I had...The buyer received the item and decided to see how the tracking worked...found the message I just told you about and decided to demand a refund for failure to deliver the item..
I was going to but I took his NEG Feedback instead.
The DC even tell you buried on the USPS web site that it is NOT a TRACKING System
but only a delivery confirmation system..Not even a delivery accepted system

BOY do I smell trouble brewing in the near future.

Thanks for your time

I NEVER said that DC WAS a tracking system!

AND, the PO specifically states that DC is NOT a tracking system!

HOWEVER, BTAIM, PAY PAL REQUIRES DC & it is FREE, so it is not very smart NOT to use it!

if you go to usps website and print out the dc form,it is free for priority.
if you use a software such as endicia,it is also free for priority or 13 cents for first class.
my printer is too slow ,so i just pony up that 45-55 cents.
build that into your shipping and handling charge.

It's not a matter of printer speed it's the dpi of the printer. You must use either a laser printer or some thermal systems. Ink Jet does not work. DC's are good only to bluff with and keep the honest people honest, they do not prove where a parcel was delivered only that is was scanned. The parcel can still be stolen out of the mail box or misdelivered and will still scan as delivered. The date the parcel entered the system will show, one scan in route usually and a delivery scan if the carrier notices the tag. Currently I have one customer claiming non delivery that the DC say's was delivered and one that the customer says was not delivered and had no DC. I use DC's on everything over $10.- in value, under $10.- I take my chances. The fees are built into my shipping formula. I've considered switching to UPS but have so many low value, light parcels it's just not economical to do so. With regard to merchant accounts the bank which issued the credit card generally side with the card holder in any delivery dispute and the bank where your merchant account is located follows the lead of the issuer. Fees are also higher than PP overall. I have a merchant account (through Wells Fargo)and have had one for the past 25 years, I rarely use it opting for PP which is easier, as quick and more economical.

My concern with PayPal is now that it is owned by eBay they have access to far too much of my financial data and I find myself overly dependent on this one company for my livlihood.

The bottom line is all banks and financial institutions suck!

paypal asks seller to use dc as it is more economical than say insurance.
if you feel some shipments warrant insurance plus dc,then use both.
dc is not perfect, but it is a start,if it has been scanned at buyer post office, then the next person who has it in possession would be the postman, and then of course the buyer.many buyers have found their package sitting at the post office undelivered ,or they lost the pink slip which ask them to come and pick up the package.

How about we trust everyone with a personal check!!!!!!!!!!!!! Or else - have them mail your payments by money order. I know of one powerseller on eBay that does exactly that - you have to send him a money order. You guys got me thinking on that one now.

Oh yes, another thing.....I never leave enough money in my PayPal to cry over it if they do take something out. As soon as I get up to a certain dollar amount - that money is transferred out.

I just wanted to clarify for a few folks that DC is also free if using stamps.com and here's how to do it. You just print a shipping label instead of postage and it will automatically include the free DC with the package.

I think it's really awful what some buyers are willing to do to save a buck or two. I'm just glad that it hasn't happened to me yet (knock on wood).

In reply to Stamps.com issuing "free" DC on shipping labels....I just checked that out and they charge $.13 for DC on shipping labels...$.55 for priority, insured, etc. It is not free as said above, although who can complain about $.13 for heaven's sake. I send my stuff out first class so I can't use the DC, but if it is insured I can - if they request insurance which is not often.

I believe that the "DC" is free on priority mail if printed on a label. You can use "DC" on first class mail if the article is non machinable (over 3/4" thick), I use it all the time by making my parcels thicker than they would normally be (I use a #000 padded mailer). The trick is making it thick but not heavy. I looked at stamps.com's site but couldn't find the rate for "DC" on 1st class.

I'll have to try the #000 mailer - mine are only #0. I used the DC on my #0 mailer with contents in it making it even fuller - my local PO said that it was legal and would go through - but the State of Texas differed. Notified my buyer that she had to pay for Priority Mail postage on the package because it had the DC. They said the DC was not allowed on first class. They sent the package back to me. My post office said it was correct and sent it back to the customer. My customer never got the item and I sent her another one - just because it wasn't her fault. She had requested the DC.

Stamps.com has a little message in there that says first class is not included in the DC. If you use the padded envelopes #000, do you send it first class?

Stamps.com....when you click on shipping label...type in the address...then the DC shows up in "special" very faint with 13 cents. The $.13 is added automatically in the cost. I just did one to see. I don't use shipping labels. They are quite large and will have to get the full sheet paper for it.

Texas got it wrong. I send DC on first class every day. They have to be non machineable, which means thicker than a letter. I use the 000 and stuff it with a little extra filler to get it to qualify. Never had one returned and use them all the time. I've never sent one through stamps.com. Currently am comparing stamps to endicia and will figure out which to join within the next day. I ship about 30 items daily so definately meed the price break on DC.

So you are saying if I stuff my little #0 bubble envelope a little more than I can use the DC. I put my items in little boxes that are one inch high - should I place the little box in the middle of the envelope? I am willing to pay the $.55 for the first class DC. I don't have any complaints at all about Stamps.com. Sure beats running down to the post office all the time.

Sounds like you are using a small cotton filled box. I do the same and that is sufficient to qualify for Delivery Confirmation. I'd file a complaint with the post office as obviously some clerk in one of the local branches is out to lunch. The biggest problem I've found with the PO is various clerks have their own beliefs regarding regulations and act according to those beliefs. It's really a management and training issue.

Thanks, I'll go ahead and do that. I only had one problem and that was in Texas! My local PO says I can, too.

Beware of merchant charge card companies.

Unless you are a big company like aol, ebay etc, the charge card company will almost always take the side of the customer. I am speaking from two years of experience.

Also beware of the merchant account company requiring you to purchase charge card processing sofware for $1,500 that is probably worth $39.00.

Many charge card customers know that they can claim almost anything and get a charge back, and believe me they will.

I will never get a merchant accout again. I love westernunion bid pay. The winning bidder can use a charge card and you will get a check from western union within 3-4 days. They have been perfect.

Just a little advice on the delivery confirmation costs .I use stamps.com for printing out postage and it costs me a 9 dollar per month service fee but I get free delivery confirmation for priority mail shipments and only thirteen cent DC for parcel post and first class with the conveniance also I find that it mores than pays for itself. ten packages a month pays for the DC .Not to mention the time I save by not having to stand on line at the Post office I just open the window and hand my mail guy the packages and im gone no need to wait on line .the postage is printed already .I found this to be really cool during the xmas rush.

Why use Stamps.com & pay a monthly fee plus an additional percentage when you can use Endicia.Com for a flat $9.95 and still get the eDC for $0.13.

I tried Stamps.com for several months & got tired of $20.00 to $40.00 monthly charges.

Never again, ENDICIA.COM IS THE BEST.

I have been screwed by Ebay and Paypal!A bidder claimed that I never sent his package 5 months ago and I got surprised with a suspension Email from Ebay telling me to pay $100.00 to be considered for reinstatement.I told them I still had the tracking number and insurance and they said that it is not excepted for proof. One time a bidder payed me with fraudulant funds and Paypal took the negative amount out of my account and then threatened to get the collections agency unless I covered the negative in my account.

They said that my account was in the negatives for 75 days and they warned me countless times when it was only in the negatives for 2 DAYS and I was NEVER warned! There the ones that told me that I was payed by a bidder with fraudualant funds and they were going to look into it.

So yea I said the hell Ebay and Paypal.THERE BOTH THEIFS!So what I did is I went straight to opening an Yahoo! store.Yahoo! offers free credit card processing setup(NO SETUP FEE)through Paymentech, unlimited free advertising and marketing,Free submissions to search Engines and Directorys, and listings in Yahoo! shopping!

The best move I ever made! End of Story!

My solution to the problem is if the item shipped is worth over 15.00 my cost I get signature confirmation. This like delivery confirmation can be tracked on line. For items that cost me only a couple of bucks I use delivery confoirmation signature confirmation is $1.30 delivery confirmation is 13 cents with stamps.com if I use priority mail its free most scammers wont bother to scam you for a small amount of money if the sale is above thirty dollars signature confirmation prevents credit card fraud If they pick it up at the post office they must provide id.Ive had a couple of big purchases abandoned and sent back to me the scammers didnt realize it would need to be signed for.
