I sell on Abebooks, have about 4000 books there. We enter all info via web-tv so do not have a computer database. Its all online. Several years back, someone kindly moved all our items onto Bibliofind for us. Is there anyone out there who could do this for us again, for a fee ? All he needed was our user name and password and a day later it was all in. i do not want to register and pay set-up fees with Amazon unless someone tells me this can be done. Dave.

bibliofind is now part of amzn,if your 4000 books are on that site, you have amzn exposure.
you may want to inquire amzn directly if you need to be on that site?
fees are pretty stiff though,if you are already on bibliofind, buyers can find you from amzn site

so what happens to your bibiliofind listing after someone did the upload for you?
or someone offered to but never do it??

We dropped Bibliofind over a year ago when we began to spend more time on auctions. There were only about 600 books still on our listing at the time.

Amazon customer assistance number is (800) 201-7575. Call and see if someone can get the info from the Tech Dept for you.

Why not check Amazon for the larger booksellers and see if they can help you. They are most likely also on ABE.
You should look for someone familiar with both systems. For example, while I can manipulate data from any format to any format, I would not be an ideal candidate. The learning curve will be too high to learn how the two systems work versus someone who does it on a regular basis.

I sell on many different book venues including ABE and Amazon.com. I have used or tried almost every software and service out there.
Since you are on WebTV, I take it you cannot work with software programs using a computer? An easy answer if you could would be to order a file from ABE of your open listings on their site. This is availabe in your seller's account on ABE. You could then download a copy of Homebase II (free from ABE) and inport the file from ABE into Homebase. Once in Homebase, you could export your entire database of listings in uiee format and upload them to Amazon's site using the BookLoader. The downside is that Marketplace listings would all go in as "like new" and most of those are probably not. There a few other problems too but you could choose the "zshops only" option on Amazon and then hand cross-list your Marketplace eligible books. Computers are fairly inexpensive these days. If you are serious about your business, I would advise you to buy an low-end fairly inexpensive computer and download Homebase II and your book database and learn how to use these tools of the trade.
There are other possibilities, though. It is probably possible to order this listings report from ABE through your seller's account, and then get it uploaded to Amazon using the bulkloader in one format or the other. You have choices such as uiee, tab and "standard book format." You can call Amazon or email them but customer support there has not been very helpful over the past few months.
Another possibility is to get someone to do this work for you.
Along that line, there is a new service that might be just perfect for you. It's called Bookrouter and it is a database upload service that is online. They will take your data in most any form (which would most certainly include the report of all listings you can order from ABE). Then they will upload it to up to 5 sites for (I think) about $25 a month. There is a small set up fee. One you get this going, you just send them your files online each time you want to upload and they take care of converting it and uploading it to each site in the proper format.
I have no connection with this service and am not trying to sound promotional about it --merely helpful. If you type in bookrouter and add a dot com I think you will find the service. Also if you type allusys and a dot com you will find it and some other sites connected to it.
Good luck!--Donny, junebugbooks

i doubt calling the big discount sellers who have successfully uploaded their books onto amzn marketplace will get any good results.
why should they share their HOW TO with a competitor, also they probably dont have the resources(time) to help others/
but i notice their books are mostly in "used-like new ' category,so someone must have made some changes in the program logic to allow that.

Books uploaded in uiee format from software such as Homebase II (free download from ABE) and BookTrakker show up as "used like new" no matter how you have listed them in the software when they are uploaded to Marketplace using Amazon's Bookloader.
So, as least some of the "big guys" are using software such as Homebase and BookTrakker to upload.

donny,
why should big guys be different?
i know some of these big guys ,they pinch pennies just like we do.
i wonder if they have thier own inhouse programmer,he would be making more than the preident.
anyway, they are giving me a lot of competition,i try to avoid them the best i can.
cant sell cheaper than they do.

I didn't say they should be different.
"i know some of these big guys ,they pinch pennies just like we do."
Of course they do.
"I wonder if they have thier own inhouse programmer,he would be making more than the preident."
There's the difference -- they have employees to handle each part of their operation. So, while they "shouldn't be different" they are different in that way.
"anyway, they are giving me a lot of competition,i try to avoid them the best i can.

We'll never get away from competition. It's part of selling online and anywhere else for that matter.
