Moderator...Is there any way (or any place on these boards) to recognize an AW "poster" who has been exceptionally helpful? If so, I would like to nominate HartCottageQuilts who has helped me and LOTS of others. Is this a good idea or what? If there's no such "program" currently, any possibility of starting one?

blueyes29,

What a great idea! I think you could all get together in the Round Table and chose a Member of the Month each month and celebrate.

Go for it!

Thanks, Joice! Will give it a try and start with a September post in the Round Table. What do others out there think of the idea?

my vote does NOT go to hartcottagequilts which is why this type of contest should not be done. How do you know who wins or not? Are all auctionwatch members going to vote on a person or just those who regularly read the message boards and post? this could get very personal very fast and in my opinion is not a good idea

I can see it now. Someone thinks Person A should have the title and tries to convince others. Easiest way to do that - trash the other nominees.

I appreciate the thought behind the suggestion, blueyes, but I can't think of a bigger can of worms to open. EEk!

However, given the fact that - was it only a week or so ago? - that I was being lambasted for being a nattering nabob of negativity, not to mention a knowitall, I suggest that if an actual physical award is designed, it be made like one of those Little Red Riding Hood/Big Bad Wolf dolls, where you can change its character entirely just by flipping it upside down.

But I nominate amy anyway, for her cool business sense and ability to say in one sentence what it would take me paragraphs to communicate, if I could analyze business as well as she does to begin with. She's only the first one that comes to mind; there are many others equally astute (IMHO, that is). And then there are the booby prizes...

I think stockticker is a much nicer person and clearer thinker than anyone else nominated so far.

although the thought of krs as poster of the year does tickle my fancy too

Actually, my thinking was more along the lines of having a specific site where people could publically thank/recognize the unselfish assistance so many on the AW boards have given. Believe me, I had NO intention of actually creating a physical "award" with voting and such (I agree...that WOULD be a real can of worms!)...just a "place" where thanks and appreciation could be given. I also agree...there are MANY on these boards who have willingly offered educated opinions...and they all ought to be recognized. Just my thinking...

Well, ahem, I DO nominate HCQ, in spite of our previous 'differences of opinion' on International shipping. I think one of the criteria should be having the skill to put a thought together that makes sense ...

(arghh - stupid PC still can't spell ...)

While the thought behind this suggestion is a very positive one the potential for downside is also great.

It appears that KRS will not run if nominated, will not serve if elected, the thorny question "are Canadians eligable ?" is already on the table, is it limited to humans ? and the thread is still young.

Maybe a means of thanking those who have gone the extra step in helping without making it a contest, an election nor open to "yes but" responses not to mention Survivor Island interplay, would serve the purpose better.

Your intentions are good, blueeyes29, but it doesn't feel right to me.

I think the potential is there for things to become too personal and feelings will be hurt.

In my opinion, every poster to AW has something to offer.

I think it is much better to express your appreciation to a poster in the threads where you've received help or even a laugh.

Everyone needs stroked once in a while.

There is no need to vote for a poster of the year. I am the winner hands down. I have already won the title. I am by far the most honest helpful poster on auction watch. I am witty, clever, kind compassionate and beautiful. I always tell the truth about everything and I never hold back. Its is only too bad for so many, that they cannot read everything I post. Perhaps there could be a device attatched to computers that would chime as so the owner would know I am posting. I fully expect that someone here is going to create a book of posts. It will sell for generations for it will contain all my most valuable insights into the auction world. Thank you for your support. Please refer to me as your Queen Diva Poster. Sincerely, Artdoggy

Well this seems to be a work in progress.

We seem to have established that humility is not a factor to be considered, humor counts double, this is a good opportunity to do some "kissing-up" and the name of any venue will not tarnish this thread.

But will spelling and grammer count? Will it add/deduct from totals?

And what about the Canadians? Can we at least promise they will be considered at a later time?

How will buying votes using PayPal or Billpoint be treated?

I'm sorry to see that some will not be eligable for inclusion. Maybe a seperate award for people that have been banned/died/reincarnated? The Immortals?

Canadians are IN...Syntax, poor spelling and grammar: No prob...Re-incarnation: triple points, for knowing how to "infiltrate through the cracks..."...

But please: NO MORE PANTIES....

I am glad to see that you the two past posters are in agreement with my reign and the Queen of Posting. I have many more loyal subjects that will bear alms to my regality, intellectual prowess and uncanny ability to bring peace and understanding among all the people here. I probably will be asked to be a moderator. Thank you again for your vote.
