I'm looking for a commercial or shareware routine that will extract my buyers email addresses from eBay's EOA message or bid history, and compile it into a list to send out sales announcements and such.

I run mainly dutch auctions and have 100's of my buyers addresses in saved EOA's and would like to do a bulk mailing announcement for my Christmas sales and auctions.

Any suggestions?

"Any suggestions?"

Yes, make sure that EVERYONE on your list wants to be on it before you start sending them commercial, unsolicited, bulk email.

I'm not trying to be a but*head, I just think you might not have thought of it in that context.

You might think of starting an opt-in mailing list using the eGroups website. Have a link in your EOA notices for people to use if they want to sign up.

quazz -
Read the messages in here first:

http://auctionwatch.com/mesg/read.html?num=2&thread=245087

What you want to do can get you suspended if ANY of the bidders complain about spam. And what you are planning to do - send commercial email without being specifically asked to - is definitely spam.

If you start now, and add a "please let me nkow if yoyu want to be on my mailing list" to your ROA mails and only sign up the ones that say "yes", you are in the clear. But KEEP the confirmations!

Yes, I understand it is SPAM of sorts. But, I don't understand WHY eBay would suspend my account if I'm using only those addresses of buyers from my OWN auctions, and NOT from others.

This is a good question to send to eBay and see what they say about it.

Check that thread I referred you to - they clarify their position quite well.

If a seller I had done business with in the past decided to send me advertisements of their upcoming listings, AND IF they had not obtained my permission first, from an EOA, I would report them for spamming.

IT'S ALL ABOUT PERMISSION! And just because I once buoght a widget from you does not mean I give you permission to use MY RESOURCES to advertise more of them.

Very clear statements. I guess that nips my idea in the bud. Thank you.

IMHO I would rather receive SPAM than snail mail junk mail and save a few 1000 acres of trees. A rather more important resource, ya think?

Don't listen to these posters.

As soon as you sell to a bidder that bidder becomes YOUR customer. They no longer belong to Ebay.

You can then market to them in any traditional or non-traditional manner.

The right program for what you suggest is called Pegasus Mail for Microsoft Windows.

And after the sale is completed the customer ceases to be your customer as well.

The only good spammer is a dead one.

I would not put my bidders on a mailing list without their express permission.

I also think the mailing list concept is the equivalent of using a tank to hunt a deer.

What I do from time to time is email someone who has bought a certain item and tell them I have something of interest at this auction URL if they are still looking for that sort of thing.

I also have bidders who I know want something and I will let them know if I found it.

Thanx for this referance. I'll use it.

I would like to thank all my winning bidders, 246 at last count, from July and August, with a note of gratitude.

If this is SPAM or is offensive to some, well eBay can eat my shorts. Panties anyone?

...now that's offensive
