Just checked out shopgoodwill.com. Man, THAT must be where my clothing buyers went!! Stuff selling over there that doesn't even get bids on eBay, and for prices that I'm dumbfounded by! I wish *I* could list there, heck, I'd pay to do so, and the money would go to a good cause --- ME!
Heck, my money always goes back into thrifts anyway (GW included, tho less often than others), so it's all the same in the end.

Sheri,
I look at this stuff with amazement too.
There is absolute junk listed that sells for high bids. The auctions that amaze me the most are the Dollar Store made in China vases that sell for nutso amounts... Plus you have to pay an additional 5% surcharge on top of high shipping. I can't figure it out.

Do they have any restrictions against the store employees (of the store which listed the item) bidding on the items in order to get the auction "started"?
Check a few auctions and see if the same bidders show up frequently, that's usually one way of telling, but not perfect of course.

Holy cow! Out of 170 clothing items for sale, all but 19 of them have bids! And 90% have multiple bids.
Why is there a seller login icon on their site?

There was talk of this on these boards some weeks back and at least a few of us feel that what you are looking at are shill bids.

I was just scanning around.
10 people bid on an animated MacFrugal's garbage plastic skeleton Halloween bride?
I don't think so.
You gotta admire their audacity though.

Now I know where our local Badwill stores get their clothing prices.

Another thing...isn't it illegal to sell the tickets for more than the face value???? It was last time I looked at the back of a ticket. I know it goes on all the time, I guess they are scalpers now.

You can sell tickets for the face value plus a defined percentage. Every state is different, I believe.

If the event is being held in a state where scalping is legal (it is in Tennessee), then you can sell the tickets for whatever the market will bear. I should know, I've bought Titans tickets from a couple of very good sellers on eBay.

maybe buyers feel better buying from SA because they know it is a real charity. the 5% handling fee is above and beyond nothing worth bidding on that i could see so I guess I am safe for a while
