Okay all... I've done my part to make people feel better over their first negative... now I need to feel better. Had an auction end on June 1st. After numerous friendly reminder emails, I filed a NPB on July 1. Got my FVF credit... left negative and went on. Relisted item... sold it. All's good. WELL, tonight I see my feedback had slipped back one and sure enough... there was the dreaded RED negative!!! I responded in what I feel was a "classy" way... but I am SOOO tempted to email the guy and tell him what I think of him (but I'm restraining myself!). So, please... a few "it's okay"s are needed.

You've done the class thing...stay with it..no matter how tempting. Class pays off better in the long run.

Don't sweat it! You know that prospective bidders will be able to see your neg for what it is: purely retaliatory. Class goes a long way in instilling confidence in potential bidders. You did the right thing; don't look back and don't let it get you down

Here, roxw, is something that may cheer you up: Seller and buyer have only 60 days max to post feedback of any sort. Yours sounds like it took longer than that. I have read in this forum so many times about how eBay would retract a feedback of that sort if you told them that it was over the 60 day limit.

Go for it!

Borillar,

I don't think that 60 day rule is in effect anymore.

Wait till it scrolls out of their database. Then bring up the timeliness issue to get it removed.
The light at the end of the tunnel will turn out to be an oncoming train.

Welcome to the GOT MY FIRST NEGATIVE club. We crossed that bridge a couple of months ago. We now have 1 negative on Yahoo and 1 on Ebay.

It's not as big of a deal as I thought it would be. Kind of makes you mad if you think that you don't deserve it.

I remember my first(retal'd)neg well. Most people get them sooner or later; they are actually an honorable scar. Retaliatory negs from deadbeats are ignored by anyone with viable brainwaves.

Once you get past the trauma it's quite liberating.

Also, ignore the guy and don't leave a retaliatory.

James.

when this happens is it a good idea to leave a reply saying it was retaliatory, or just leave it alone?

This hasn't happened to me yet but want to be prepared if/when it does. Would it be "classy" to respond "Buyer filed neg after I filed an NP/neg for not completing sale." Just wondering...

"Classy"? I don't know. Honest, just-the-facts, responsible, and informative to other sellers? You bet.

Well, think of it this way. It's the same as the other type of "deflowering". Pretty disappointing, but won't stop you from trying again.

One thing you can do is go Private with your feedback untill the negative works off the page, things will be fine..

I would strongly urge you not to make your feedback private. I can think of few things that send a red flag asking "what's this person hiding?" more then private feedback.

James.
