I'm stumped. I've tried sending cash to the seller and after 35 days they claim it has not been received. (I know about the danger of sending cash through the mail but since I have successfully done it for a year. . . probably 12-15 times. . .I stopped worrying about getting ripped off. . .that's another issue, so back to my question...)

Since they have not received it we have agreed that: 1) I will now send an international money order, and 2) when the cash does finally arrive (I know I'm a Pollyanna) the seller will return it to me.

My problem is that I've been to the local, yokel P.O. and they said an international money order could not be issued for Spain. They said there was another item that could be issued by the P.O. but that I'd have to go to the big city (ha ha) nearby to ask about it (they could not think of the name of the item). So, I had errands to run in town and I went and asked at the P.O. and they confirmed an international money order not be sent to Spain. They said go to a bank and get an international cashier's check. OK, I'm a patient person and I have lotsa errands to run, so off I go to my bank to inquire. They hem and haw about it, and basically say they don't do them.

Someone has got to know something about this stuff. Seems I've seen previous posts about how to do this international payment thing.

Can someone help me, please?

Before I started using wire transfers, I sometimes risked sending large amounts of cash overseas. I used either global priority or global express because they have to be handled differently (even in other countries) than regular mail. Or you could ask about registering the shipment. Costs a bit more but better than losing a payment.

I always used a bubble envelope because it's often less conspicious than an envelope with money in it.

If you are an X.com user, you might check out their procedures on doing a wire transfer from your X.com account. I don't know if they do international wire transfers but they do domestic ones.

LotsaCoffee:

You can try bidpay.com I have used them as a seller, no cost to me, 3 times, 2 great
transactions from Japan. Once from Ausrailia, still pending, and paid once to Austrailia the amount was $170.00 plus my cost of $9.99. That is still pending. You can pay via a creditcard, no protection. But they do send the funds. Ed

eventer, hi! Can you use x.com on international? I've been kicking around the idea of experimenting with opening up to international but I would like to have some idea of how much a pain in the arse transactions are going to be. I don't want to have to tell ppl to send cash because too many things can happen and I don't want to be a party to them losing money.

Hi LotsaCoffee!

kiheicat,

Sorry, just saw your question.

I haven't used X.Com for international or domestic wire transfers yet but I read in the "buyer wants my bank account" thread where another person uses it for wire transfers.

I mainly use BillPoint for my international buyers. I have business partners in other countries so I use bank wire transfers for them. Now that I know about X.com, I may start using them since they are free & my credit union charges a fee.

I'm going to check on whether or not they can do an international wire transfer & if it is free. If it is, this would be GREAT!
