I started buying and selling on E-bay earlier this year. All of my purchases and sales have gone through without a hitch. I currently have a rating of (9). I have made one purchase and two sales in the last month and none have placed feedback up (I have done it for them) despite smooth transactions. I have even e-mailed two of them with specific requests provide feedback and my requests were ignored. I have been told by friends that sell on E-bay that feedback isn't really all that important, but I know I look at it as a determining factor before making a bid, so I think it is.
My question is this,"Does anyone else have problems getting feedback posted by the people who buy from you (or you buy from), and what can be done about it?"

You can do three things that will help you build your feedback rating. First, look for sellers that always leave feedback. Second, purchase inexpensive items so that you can afford to make multiple purchases. Sellers love repeat customers. Third, and most important, pay quickly! If possible pay with PayPal. Most sellers will be grateful for the prompt payment.

lidsavr - We feel your pain.
We've completed dozens of auctions successfully since starting with eBay and less than a third of buyers have posted feedback for us. We left them all pos feedback but few replied. Very furstrating!!

My best advice to you is don't sweat it!
No matter what you do, at best you will receive something like 60-70% feedback from your eBay transactions. E-mailing will sometimes help, sometimes just irk people, they're like that from time to time.
It's hard for a newcomer, they want to believe that getting over that 10 or something makes a huge difference. But paying quickly is better. Be patient & you will get where you are going, worrying along the way won't speed it up.

You have a very good point, worrying will not help. Still, I have some items I would like to sell dutch, but cannot do so until I get a ten rating per E-bay's rules. I guess I can only wait... (Actually, posting the first message helped my outlook, because now I know what to expect. Others have said they get a 60 - 70% response. Now I have some reasonable expectations rather than my unreasonable one that said I would get feedback from every transaction.) Thanks to everyone that posted.

I've said this many times on AW:
Sell only good stuff that attracts good bidders.
Give them "knock your socks off service"
This is a rare commodity and bidders do respond!
Be patient. My feedback rating represents about two-thirds of my transactions. Some bidders don't care; others gave up after eBay's infamous feedback bug thwarted their attempts.

I realize that getting to the ebay magic number of 10 feedbacks is of the utmost importance to an ebayer for the dutch and feature auction thingie. And you have gotten some great advice about getting there from others and some realistic expectations about feedback from a yet others.
Your initial post tells me you have completed about 12 -15 transactions as both buyer and seller. It also tells me that you have some inventory around waiting for the ability to host dutch auctions. Ask your self this, Why sit on the inventory waiting for a feeedback rating of 10. Sell some of them now. With that said next great place to build a feedback rating is buy some of your packing material off of ebay. Practically 99% of the packing material sellers leave feedback for each transaction. You have done the right thing mixing up your initial feedback with both buys and sells.
Hang in there, the feedback comes with multiple transactions. If you started earlier this year and only have from my guess 15 - 20 transactions. That is less than 3 transactions a month. Increase your transactions to five a month or more and you will notice a remarkable difference across the board.
