I have boxes and boxes of antique and vintage Christmas ornaments, lights, etc. and am wondering if I should start listing them? Or should I hold out and wait another month or so? I know towards December the bidding really heats up, but my sales have been so lackluster lately I am really thinking of listing this stuff. Thanks so any input!

Truesmom...I recently sold a vintage ceramic tree (the ones with the light inside), a number of ceramic buildings for Christmas scenes, christmas mugs, a Christmas theme teapot....all did well and had spirited bidding.

I think now is the time to start listing these items...the holidays are not that far off. A lot of people start their holiday decorating right after Thanksgiving. They need to get the items before that, meaning there is only about 90 days to find it, bid, win, pay for and get that item.

truesmom, I agree with amy. A month ago I cleaned out my "packing" room and marked everything that had been piling up to move it out. I ended up doing pretty well on a few different Christmas ornaments. I guess I'm the only one that waits till the last minute on that stuff!

I did well on a Christmas CD. More than one company does a Christmas in July event, so your timing would not be premature.

October is when I start getting emails from buyers saying this is a gift for Christmas. Try to get most of your Christmas selling done by December. I had all my items shipped out for Christmas by Dec 9.

In my experience, bidding virtually ceases after December 1st. If it were me, I would start listing them around the second week of September up until Thanksgiving, if I still had anything left to sell.

Had a recent customer who won three auctions. She said she was doing her Christmas shopping and was almost finished.

My 2 cents.

I've started my Christmas shopping already. No time like the present! I'm also going to be listing some ornaments, and I say start now. There are some people that like to get going on their Christmas shopping in January!

I can only say what worked for me last Christmas season. I began targeting the Christmas market in early November and it held very solid for me right up to Christmas and actually several days beyond. I was completely dumbfounded. I saw bidding war upon bidding war and in many cases the final price was 2000% or more over my cost.

I was completely floored over one item that went for 16,000% over what I paid for it. I had one group of items that I was holding specifically for Christmas season. I paid under $200 for the lot and finished out at $3100 for them. Last Christmas ebay was VERY good to me. I cringed in January when the monthly invoicing hit and I got to see just how much they made off me... ebay was very good to themselves too.

Most people get into the Christmas buying mode after Halloween and well before Thanksgiving.
