.. for sniping on ebay. I mean for 7 - 10 second buffer time snipes. Of my last eight esnipes, three "missed auction end". 3 out of 8 is pretty bad.
Given ebay's troubles lately, the problem is most likely not with esnipe but with being unable to access ebay for one reason or another (ebay down, ebay can't handle the traffic..) Still, I won't be using esnipe to snipe.
If I use esnipe at all it will be for one or two minute buffer times. But more likely I will bid my max a day or two before the auction ends.

I'd lay odds that it's eBay that's cranky these days. However I have never missed an auction with 12 second buffer.

Esnipe has not been working very well for me lately. I've taken to using it as eproxy with 75-90 second buffers. Recent auctions missed included some with 25-30 second buffers at off times.
I'd like to see esnipes updated stats. Those currently posted at their site were done immediately following the recent upgrade.

Okay I gave it a try with a long snipe:
November 1... 25 second snipe buffer... "missed auction end"
Well it still sucks ... probably still due to inability of ebay to handle the access but that still makes esnipe NFG

Well...I rely on my own sense of timing, and my Mr Clock.... Sniped the other night with 1 second to go...and last night with about 4 seconds to go..Much simpler for me..

I used to use esnipe so much that I could hardly write the checks to sellers fast enough but no longer. They just can;t get the job done with a small buffer. Now I snipe by hand but I lost lots of goodies before I gave up on the esniper software.
