I'd really appreciate it if someone could help me out here. I listed an auction last night for seven days, and only just now realized that there's a slight mistake in the description. Nothing too major, but still, you never want to take the chance. The problem is, the item has received a bid already. Just one, but now I can't revise. What can I do? I'm thinking that I can cancel the one bid, send an email to the bidder explaining the situation, that I didn't want him to think my ad was misleading, and invite him to come back after I've made my correction. Is that correct, though, that if I cancel the only bid, the auction will revert to a status where I can go in and revise the description? With six days left, I want to get this taken care of as quickly as possible, and before any more bids come in. Can the situation be handled this way, and if so, would it be considered to be within proper etiquette? Thanks for you help.

You can add to your listing. It will show up at the bottom with a "Seller added" message. You might then e-mail the bidder to explain.
You may be able to cancel the bid, but I don't know if you will then be able to revise or not. Might tick off your bidder. I'm sure someone else here will know that part.

I would write to the high bidder and explain the situation and tell them you will be happy to retract their bid for them [so it doesn't go on their record] if they want to retract. Then I would add the information to the item description. Thats what I have done anyway.
