A couple of days ago I got this email for a payment via PayPal:
This email confirms that you have received a Pending eCheck Auction Payment
for $2.98 from XXXX.
This eCheck Payment will remain "Uncleared" until the funds have
cleared from the sender's account, which usually takes 4 business
days. If you are shipping an item, please do not ship your item
until the funds have cleared into your PayPal account. You will
be notified by email when the funds have cleared into your PayPal
balance.
I've never seen this before. I told the customer that I will ship their item once the payment clears into my account. Now, the customer wants to ARGUE with me that, "I've sent you the payment through Paypal." Well duh I know that.. but I don't officially have it yet.
I can't spell.

I got my first one of these last week. I am not sure just how it works for the buyer to start an e-check going, but it is just like a regular check. You should wait, as advised, for it to clear before shipping. My customer seemed to understand this, fortunatly. I would write back to the customer and explain that it is just like a regular check and the funds have not been credited to your account yet. In other words, their check hasn't "cleared" yet. Remember to be polite and professional in your email, since they already seem to be a bit irate about it. I would also suggest that they check on it themselves to check on the uncleared status.

I like it because an e-check does not reduce my credit card limit on Personal Accounts. It is still faster than than receiving a check to clear. Also, the buyer's mailing address is clearly written.
I have difficult sometimes deciphering mailing addresses, especially the international ones.

I just received 2 of these messages for the first time. One came on Thursday and the message from Paypal says that it will take 4 days to clear, but I'm still waiting. The customer is getting a bit anxious but is understanding. I didn't quite know what it was at first and finally figured out that it was funds sent from their bank account.

Hi there, I was a buyer on the other end of the deal. I really don't like the E-Check as I sent a payment on November 1. Today my bank tells me it is cleared them-------however---when I checked Paypal it still states it is "uncleared" as yet. Today is the 7th. of November. So not sure what I need to do now----wait and wait some more. I know that the next time I send a payment I will choose the credit card payment method verses this method. Apparently, no matter what it is much much more of a hassle for buyer and seller. The funds can be there but ----------doesn't matter.

From what I heard, echecks sometimes take as much as 9 days to clear. The sender can cancel the payment at any time until it clears. So don't ship until it clears. The good news about echecks is that they are not credit card transactions, so the buyer can't charge it back 4 months later. http://www.ygoodman.com [email protected]

I just got an "uncleared" Paypal payment from an echeck this morning and am trying to explain to my customer.
It's another Paypal snafu that could have easily been avoided. If Paypal would only credit the senders account once the check cleared it would eliminate the confusion and the extra burden of correspondence on the sellers.
