I'm not sure what to make of this. I didn't read the fine prints and ended up signing up for two categories with the additional cost of having another category to list my items. I thought things were relatively slow but low and behold, my auction items are being noticed, really noticed. I have a set of auctions closing tonite, almost all the items have at least one bid on them.
I did lower some shipping fee on appropriate items (book stuff), more of an option. But I am baffled. Where did everyone come from? I was really hoping to get good sales to pay for the double category listing. Looks like my wish came true. What are your thoughts on double category listing?
I'm still shaking my head ... is it because I have 100% customer satisfaction? I just hit the magic 100 number ... hmmm, what gives?

I tried it too, for three different items. They all got lots of hits, one more than the others. I'm not sure what effect listing them in multiple categories had, though. I'd guess it had some impact, but I know the items themselves as well as the wording of my titles (in at least one case) had a lot to do with it, too.
I've wondered how to measure the impact of listing something in more than one category. The only (semi-)accurate way to do it would be to take two identical items and list them with identical titles, starting bids, ending times etc., and list one in only one category and the other in two. I'd presume that the two-category listing would get more traffic, but I'd like to see proof.

Eventer, great idea!!
I don't have much hope of successfully bidding on any of AW's fine staff, though, if the auction I went to today is any indication. There were at least a thousand people there and prices were close to retail, occasionally higher! I left empty-handed.

I was curious about this myself - I would like to hear of more experiences of those who have used the double category listing format -
Two or three years ago I talked to eBay about this, but at that time I still felt folks check specific categories - today I don't believe that is the major practice, and that most simply use SEARCH - so I haven't tried the double listing -
ALSO, I was concerned about someone using the main Search program, and pulling up lets say 2 of a unique antique item, and their thinking there were 2 different listings and therefore the item wasn't as rare as it actually was.
