OK, I didn't think this happened like this...

I bid on an item and I was the high bidder at my max. Then, I figured I should add a little more, since the auction would close when I was away from my computer tomorrow.

When it refreshed, the high bid increased an increment, I raised my own price!!

Huh? I thought adding to your proxy just left it as it was! Noone else bid against me at the same time. I'm confused

Could be your first vote wasn't a full bidding increment above the next highest vote. If that's the case, your bid would go up to be one full increment above.
