The other day I went into the local thrift store not expecting to find anything but thought I would at least look around.
I was in a hurry so I wasn't planning to spend too much time. I walked in, went over to their glass case containing >collectible<, breakables and sharp items such as knives.
On top of the case, I found an item they had sealed with the price of a few dollars. I picked it up and was looking at trying to decide how much I could sell it. Without not being able to open it, I didn't want to take the chance of paying the money. The general catagory value is not much more that the marked price. I was considering the emotional value.
Anyways, I decided not to buy and preceeded to poke around the rest of the store. Guess what I found...a couple more of similar items of the one I was looking at. They were not sealed, very good condition and at about a few cents.
I immediately took them to the cashier paid and left.
When I got home I looked at the items and discovered I probably could start them at a profitable price and could get a bidding war if the right people find them.
At this time I am not sure how I will list them. Either as a bunch or seperately. I also have other items that are of the same theme (I have found in my travels at pennies but worth more) that I could throw in too. It will help to list them in different catagories since the items can be in several catagories.
And this store is aware of us dealers and collectibles. This isn't the first time I have found profitable items at that thrift store.
I try to be the first one at yard sales, but am aware that even the last person can find treasures! As I always say if it is meant to be.....
Just thought I would share this little experience of mine.
