Below is a copy of an email I received back from ebay support when I asked when or if they will ever fix the description search problem. This guy obviously has no clue that there is even a problem and they call this support - it's almost laughable!
I left off his name so he wouldn't be embarassed.
Thank you for taking the time to write us about eBay's description and title search databases.
Please be reminded that these databases are not real time. These databases represent a snapshot of our system at a particular time.
The title search database is reindexed every two to six hours. The titles and descriptions database is updated every 12 to 18 hours. Our
members are most successful at locating items using the title search index.
Please be assured that our databases have been updated regularly since September 13, 2000. We experienced database update errors on October 01 and 29, 2000. We had another update error on November 25, 2000. Each of
these issues were resolved and our system was restored to complete function.
It was my great pleasure to help you with your question, and may all your eBay experiences continue to be pleasant.

You wanna know what's really disgusting? They aren't even interested in looking at anyone who's older, with more experience in life, business or whatever. Have you ever looked at their recruitment page? It basically says "If you aren't currently a college student, we aren't interested in talking to you."

Gee, I'm a college student and run a business on eBay. I bet other people like me exist out there. I see abuses here in terms of ending other peoples auctions that are competitors..HMMMMMMMMMM

Bill ...
Merry Holidays ...
Who other than a 19 year old with 3 months work experience would take the kind of abuse these brats have to take for minumum wages? It's like a "Catch 22" ... until eBay starts providing some real support from mature staff, we are going to keep flaming them, and as long as we keep flaming them, they're not going to be able to hire the proper people to deal with us. Unless, of course, they pay them more ... but, poor old Pierre and Meg really can't afford high priced help
