I got my first neg today after over 1365 positives. I have busted my behind to be be a very good seller, going above and beyond the call of duty on some transactions, but I digress....My 11 year-old son got pre-Christmas money and picked out an auction to spend it on. The auction was for Spawn figures. I used the BIN feature late on the 18th and PayPaled the payment on the 19th. I also included an extra 35 cents to put delivery confirmation on the package and asked the seller to contact me with the DC number and ship date. I heard nothing back...so on the 21st I e-mailed the seller asking for info on the shipping and the DC #.
Nothing...on the 22 I e-mailed again and he did respond with "I mailed it on the 19th", but he didn't give me the DC number..every day I e-mailed asking for the DC number...no answer....my son waited by the mailbox every day...nothing...then on the 23 he sat in a chair by the mailbox waiting for the mail lady. No package...well, he understood about the rush and late deliveries, but it still caused him to be so disappointed as to shed a few tears.. anyway...the package did arrive Tuesday..the 26th...with a postal lable stating it wasn't mailed until the 23!!! And there was no delivery confirmation on the package. I got pi**ed. No wonder the SOB wouldn't give me the number...or even answer my e-mails. I let the seller know how pi**ed I was about his lying about the ship date. Delays and mix ups I can understand..God knows I have been there, done that, but i have NEVER lied to a customer about a ship date, especially one as important as one who is waiting for a Christmas package. Neither my son nor myself would have been so expectant had we known that it wasn't shipped until the 23. Well, after an extremely abusive and threat-filled e-mail and after calling me a fu**ed-up #*!@, he said that if I tried to neg him he would immediately neg me back. I saw this as attempted feedback blackmail, and cc'ed the letter to SafeHarbor. And sure enough, after seeing that I had mailed the abusive e-mail to Ebay, he negged me..I hadn't posted feedback for him yet, but I did go ahead and neg him after that. My first neg...how disheartening...but you know what? I am not as devastated as I thought I would be over that first negative. I guess 'cause it came from a hateful, anal-retentive screw-up. I hope others don't get caught up with sellers like this one. Thanks for letting me vent. I hope everyone has a happy and safe New Year.

You gambled with fate and lost. Next year do your eBay Christmas shopping in October. I would file this one in the "buyer from hell" bin. I do feel sorry for your son.

I'd send all the notes to SafeHarbor because of (what I also see as) feedback extortion (I'll give you one if you give me one). Maybe he'll at least get warned or something.
I'm very sorry that your son was disappointed.
One more thing - about the delivery confirmation. I understand that sellers who use e-stamp (or something like that) can avoid going to the post office. I know that (unless I was making a trip already) I wouldn't make a special trip and stand in the huge lines just before Christmas to get delivery confirmation on one package. Granted, he should have let you know this.

Oh! No!...I am so sorry about all the nasty stuff!!!
You really did not deserve that! Sounds like a seller I once had...abusive to the max!...Well, it is no consolation, but your customers can tell an unfair comment when they see one.
Have a Happy New Year, in spite of that slob...
And Twin, my dear, Xmas Shopping in NOVEMEBER??? It won't happen... cuz between higher USPS RATES, Taxable Internet Sales Laws, Ebay rewarding "snitches", this might well be the last year on eBAy for many...
Happy New Year to you and yours, if I don't see ya...

What's the feedback on the seller? Does it show a lot of disappointed customers?
Once I dropped off my bag of packages at the PO on Saturday, and then e mailed everyone their item was shipped.
That Monday was a holiday. I didn't know it, but my bag was misplaced into the "incoming" mail, and this wasn't discovered until it was too late and the packages were actually shipped out Tuesday night, 3 days after I honestly thought they were gone!
Luckily it was the summer, so there were no disappointments.
I feel anyone paying for something on the 19th though, and only having 4 mailing days till Christmas shouldn't be too shocked that it didn't arrive, even if it was shipped when it was supposed to. I think you could have explainied holiday shipping and weather delays and things a little better to your son so he wouldn't be sitting there waiting.
Heck, I had a package held up in the snow storms a few weeks ago, I am a lot older than your son and I still was disappointed.
edited to add:
Also, you said you told the seller how PO'd you were, and he replied in kind.
Why do you sound surprised this happened?
The phrase "What you give is what you get" comes to mind.

Hmmm maybe I got Lucky here in NY all the packages I sent out 16th to 19th seem to have got where they were going by the 24th even parcel post I have one or two who didnt send replys thanking me for the fast shipping but that is not unusual as not all write to say they received there items or give feed back and im sure some people never even touched there computer them two days or are away for this week.
Seems the seller in quetion here didnt try to hard to deliver as promosed even if his shipments got misplaced at the postoffice he could have made a the effort to check with them and have them take a quick look see.
And could have had more Xmas spirit in his replys even I found with the rush of winning bids I had I got moveing so fast I forgot to wish some buyer happy holidays had to retrace my step to do this little thing.
I have to admire seller who took the chance to say They could ship before christmas after the 20th many on line retailers and comapanys cut off garentees on delivery after the 11th even if you paid there high charges for express delivery.
My Point is that sellers that cared enough about there buyers and sales to keep up the pace more then likely got 97% sucess at getting thing where they had to be on time inspite of the weather condition that exsited and still does from what I see on the News.
Dedication to what your doing pays off as well I feel if your going to do something go for it all the way or not at all.
after a while getting everything you want with out working for it and going out of your way for someone else now and then gets boreing.
Even Bill Gates one of the Richer people in the world could have anything in the world he wants handed to him goes out of his way to donate time and money to help people less fortunate do better I will bet if you asked him he will say he does it not just for the tax write offs but because the work and good it does makes all the money he has worth haveing.

Just a bit of info for barbarake, I use Stamps.com and D/C and don't have to go to the PO. I only have to take them when it's insured.

mamadutch, you will get over it. It's too bad you got a neg like that, but wow--1,365 positives without a neg? That's great! I think your feedback record is outstanding!
