I don't know if putting the url here will take you to the pictures; but if I DON'T try, I won't know! This is an 1800's rug hook, perhaps? Thanks to any of you who might be more informed than I! Ya'll are so smart, makes me feel 'DUH' on a GOOD day!!

Yes, I've seen these before and it is indeed a rug hooker--"automatic" in that it slides up & down to punch the hole and make uniform size loops, so that the hooking process is much faster than having to pull loops thru the backing material with a handheld hook.

Thanks AGAIN Shosh!
pacoferrone: yeah, my pics suck:-} ...but you see, I am 52; and before I got this digital camera, I have probably taken less than a dozen pictures IN MY LIFE...just wasn't my thing.
So, you see, they got reason to suck!! As I say, I am learnin' !!
Two years ago if someone said, TURN that computer on...when I got through caressing it with no results, I'd have just TURNED it to the wall!
Then one day, I got really ANGRY at myself and this thing, and began to click, click, click!
I have come a long way, by myself, for the most part...
til I discovered this place!!

Hey! You are doing fine...It is intimidating at first. Been on just a little over 2 years myself...gonna be 64 ...yuks!!!!
Should you want to keep the enhanced pictures I brought up, just RIGHT-CLICK on them (one at a time); from the pop-up flag, select "SAVE PICTURE AS" and click; in the "SAVE IN" box, in new screen, click on DESK TOP ; make sure the "SAVE AS" box says "JPEG", and click the SAVE button. You can then drag the pic icon from desktop into your picture folder, wherever it is, or do a COPY and PASTE from desktop to your Pic Folder.

Just had a fun thought: Just think what the "Ebay Snitch Police" are gonna report to Ebay when you post a listing for "Hooker"...
If you don't mind, I am going to delete the large pictures and just leave the smaller versions, so it does not take this page too long to upload...OK?

Shosh- yes, please delete them! Thanks for all the info...just shows ta go ya; the older we get, the more determined we are to let folks know how SMART we have become!!
Scary thought: How'd you know I was gonna list it as a hooker. (wouldn't MISS that chance!)
They say GREAT minds think alike; or are we just kin? 'Smarts' is inherited! Mama usta tell me fruit don't fall far from the tree....
(Then, when I was about 35 she informed me sometimes it does roll away and rot???)

Yep, a rug "hook," not "hooker". This kind is called a "shuttle" hook and is used for yarn. The yarn goes downward through that little screw eye, then left to right through the needle.
The ones that look something like a crochet or button hook are for strips of wool fabric; if you use one of those with yarn, you run the risk of splitting the yarn and driving yourself crazy.

Humm..lets see if memory serves me right, Shosh;
a diggER digs; a scrapER scrapes; a wipER wipes; a hoEr ho's...so, you ARE correct! A hookER it is...it hooks!
I could NEVER allow MY sense of humor to run rampant in public! THAT is why I was uh, 'put away' last time.
Check out photopoint ([email protected] albums) and click on mizscarlett and friends!
This is why me and 'Granny'(and the rest of the gang within) love ebay!!
(and 'cause ya'll so SMART like I am getting to be!!)

Gee, and here I thought somebody wanted an informed answer to an actual question, not a five-for-a-dollar pun so old it makes "Take my wife - please" look fresh and hilarious.

Well, Shosh, I am not sure who was the target of the arrow...but I certainly have never come here to 'start' any thing.
Like you, I think most of us thrive on a little HAPPY...
But...I was wrong once before!
Perhaps I am either:
1. Missing something. or...
2. Just need to be missing...
(I have read many posts and could have added a little burr, had I felt it worth my while; ...but my Southern Mama taught me, "If you can't say something kind, just don't say anything!"
"It costs nothing to be nice, but we should all take a moment to consider, what it might 'cost' another, when we aren't."
To you Shosh, I thank you for all the help!
Think I will just lurk a few years!!
