Hi, Does anyone have any ideas on how to get rid of or at least lessen cockling on old prints?
I bought a gorgeous turn of the century print and it has slight waves or ripples. I assume at some point moisture got to the print.
Before I frame it, I wanted to ask you guys since some of you are print collectors. Thanks, Lauren

I've always ironed wrinkled paper--but be sure to do it on the wrong side to avoid smearing inks or colors! I have done it on my ironing board but will find a harder surface next time. And DO NOT use steam--it will just put new ripples in the paper!
Off the subject a little: When our daughter was small, she hand-washed and ironed dry 150 $1 bills she'd saved up. I would have been afraid the money would fall apart, but kids are so courageous. The bank teller said she wished everyone would wash their dirty money before bringing it in!
