Anyone know of a catagory on ebay that tends to have lots of items that go for $1 or less where sellers tend not to gauge on shipping? Ie total cost of item is under a few bucks?

Yes I do. It's called the tax write-off category.

The sellers that sell there, sell their items for $1 or less, they pay $.25 in Ebay listing fees and if you pay using a payment service like PayPal they pay an additional $.35. So they get $.40 or less minus 5% for the final value fee on the transaction. (I forgot to mention they pay several dollars wholesale for each item they sell.) They also provide a money back guarantee and pay shipping both ways leaving them $5 to $10 in the red if you are not totally satisfied with the item they are selling.

ed123, There is no excuse for gouging on shipping, regardless how cheap the seller is selling items for. It is called thievery, plain and simple.
