Well obviously, after a day up, and no response, U-PIC INSURANCE isn't that popular - I must conclude from the lack of response that either no one uses it , or no one has been pleased.
Interesting - if so is there any other alternative to insuring via UPS, or USPS, other than self insurance, which I don't feel would suit our needs.

I may have the initials wrong, but thought it was a company doing independent insuring of shipping packages which I read about on another thread.

I've been using U-pic for several months now. The rates are low and the service is great. No complaints here!

Hi jwpc,
Think maybe everyone is still celebrating and not checking this board too often today. Or watching the Bowl Games.
In anwser to part of your question, I have used U-Pic for almost a year and I love it. It sure does save on time at the PO (I have a postage meter also, so no standing in line unless I have international). It's quick and easy and they have several different ways to join. Here is the u-Pic site: www.u-pic.com
If you have any questions you can always contact Candi via e-mail at: [email protected]. She has always been very helpful to all users, even for the simpliest questions. THe best thing about U-Pic is the savings in insurance costs, especially since the Postal rates for insurance are going up on the 7th to $1.10 for $50 coverage.
As for insurance claims, I have not had to file one yet, but have read others stating that it is quite easy and painless. Your rates might possibly go up depending on the amount of the claim but even if it does, it is less than the PO charges.
Hope that helps a little.
Happy New Year

So, ExecutiveGirl...How does it work? You just ship your parcel by whichever way, without the Postal Insurance, but buy the Insurance separately from U-Pic?

You're overlooking the possibility that it's a holiday and most people aren't at their computers.
I've been using Upic for about 6 months, but I haven't had to file a claim, yet. So, I can't help you.

Hello. I have used U-Pic for awhile now. Within the first month, I had a claim. Figured *L* Well, I found them very helpful, and fast to deal with. I like the fact that I can do it all online ( except when I had the claim, had to send a paper in then). I even pay monthly through paypal. I send Candi a weekly spreadsheet , which only takes me moments to fill out. No more filling out those tedious green forms. My customers like the price, and I do too.
I believe there are a few different ways to do it, but the way I am setup, is every month I keep a log of what packages I want insured (I use an Excel spreadsheet to keep track). At the end of the month, I email a copy to Candi at Upic and Paypal the amount I owe. That's it! No credit card is needed - you can mail them a check if you prefer. I've never had to file a claim, so on that I'm not sure exactly how they handle it.

Thanks Shosh for the instructions on the links. I went in and changed them and they worked... well the second time I edited them they did!

I've used them about a year now. Just my luck, about a month after signing up I had a claim for <cringe> over $200. They were friendly and efficient, sending my check in just a couple of weeks.
Since I was new and had paid less than $50 in total premiums, the claim caused my premiums to double (to 80 cents/$100). Since then I've insured everything over $75 with the PO (and no claims since, thank goodness). Candi told me at the time that they'd re-evaluate my rate in a year and, true to her word, she sent me an (unprompted)email a couple of weeks ago saying they'd soon be doing just that.
I've found them to be dependable, convenient and lots more efficient than the USPS. I highly recommend them with the proviso that high-volume sellers and/or those frequently shipping high-ticket merchandise should probably consider U-Pic as a supplement to their current insurance, rather than a total replacement.

Hello.
I read through the info on the U-PIC website and I thought you paid for your stamps when you got them all at once, is that wrong, do you pay for them as you use them? I'm confused. Thanks for your help.

Hi. I think the best thing is to contact Candi about your getting an account. She's VERY helpful. I didn't think I'd qualify for the non-stamps program, but I do enough volume, from what they said. email her at [email protected]

Anybody else have trouble signing up for this service? I filled out their new user form about 3 weeks ago, and they are yet to email me. Is this their way of saying I didn't qualify, or did I just do something wrong?

I've been a satisfied customer for about three months...no claims yet. But one important advantage of U-PIC is that they reimburse you for the TOTAL cost, including postage. USPS only gives you the item's value and will not pay for postage. Although I have yet to use the service this way, I understand that reimbursement is easier and faster with U-PIC as well. Add to that the fact that the premium is about half what I would pay to USPS, and I am a happy camper!

I've been using u-pic since April.
I've had two claims although one was canceled after an air-mail package to the U.K. turned up back on my doorstep after nearly 5 months. with no explanation. I re-sent it and it arrived safely in 3 days!
The other claim was quickly paid, including the shipping costs. My rates did not go up, but even if they had I would still continue to use u-pic.

I have used U-PIC for about 6 Mts. now, and I am very pleased with their service. I had 1 claim and it was paid very quickly. It is somewhat time consuming at Mts. end, you have to log all items insured and send in the log to them usually takes 30 mins or so to get it ready. No real headache there, just another part of doing business.
They work on a prepaid basis, you buy stamps and use them to insure your packages. The stamps go on your log sheets rather than the package itself. The only real problem I had with them was the customers didn't think they were getting the insurance they paid for. I contacted Candee and she said I could create a label to attach to the package, that worked great no problems since!!
You cant beat the price and convenience of this service. Everyone I have dealt with has been more than helpful.
Heres an e mail of the person I work with there : [email protected] E mail her , she'll be glad to send you information
Thanks
Joe

I've used it for a little over a year. I've had no problems, and all the claims were paid quickly (they were all small).
What works for me is keeping a log as I prepare the packages, then I send that in w/ my payment at the end of the month.
