Does anyone have a favorite book about Internet Auctions that they felt offered helpful advice, hints, tips, etc?

OK, now I'm confused. I received notification from [email protected] informing me that there had been a post in this thread, and the message contained a link to a porno site.

The same thing happened to me on another thread. I have no idea what's going on but I'm glad I'm not the only one it happened to.

Joice emailed me and explained that someone spammed AW with that porno link and the posts have been removed, and the user's been deleted.
The email I got was the contents of the spam message. I'm glad it wasn't the result of an email virus or something.

I don't know where the other thread is, but my vote is for "Starting Your Online Auction Business" by Dennis Price.
He refers you to his other books for the basics; this one really gets into all the stuff we discuss here, like selling strategies, where to get merchandise, records and taxes. And he doesn't act like his own selling gig is the only game in town. Excellent.

I second that recommendation. I just bought this book a couple weeks ago and it is very informative. No going through the basics of "how do i bid" or any other stuff that you should already know. Just the real info on what it takes to sell on auctions.

I don't think any book can compare with the information I've received online. I've found on AuctionWatch, OTWA, and the usenet group alt.marketing.online.ebay there is a wealth of information that would be hard if not impossible to include in one book. Also the message boards are current.
There are many sites online that are just a click away. Like here Auction Watch Help

Hi...good topic. I've read several books, but not the one mentioned.
This, to me, is a 'get burned' and 'learn' business.
The Auction Watch forum has been a tremendous help.
Thanks

The best books are the "Idiots guide...Auctions" and "Auctions...for dummies." Very easy to understand and cover many details. They are mainly for beginners or people starting who just started out who want to learn some new tips, not for experienced auction buyers and sellers.
