Well..got the letter from tech support today that they are no longer allowing email addresses to be your user ID. Of course they said it was for spam avoidance..blah..blah..blah.
If all this happens as everyone has been saying it does..how does a potential buyer ask questions to a seller?

No more click and email seller. You will have to click on ask seller a question, fill in user ID and password if not signed in, click on ebay email address and if you're like me go up to go, click back to the auction to type or paste in the info you need so seller knows what auction you are talking about. Then you can finally ask a question.
Is there really that much spam coming from ebay? I don't have much of a problem and I run two sites. Most of my spam seems to come from a sorry buyer who was NARUed. I can tell because of the spam addresses(overseas). My email puts this junk in its own folder so I don't have to look at it.

They have to go through eBay, unless you have your email address in your text....which I don't expect eBay to allow for very long.
I am convinced that SPAM and SSBFs are a real problem to bidders, as well as a drain on legitimate sellers, but I am not convinced that eBay is doing this to protect anyone or anything but eBay's pocketbook.
Obviously, if it were just a matter of SPAM, we could choose to use our email addys as IDs if we were willing to suffer the consequences.
