How about your experiences with Buy It Now? never used it until recently, when I added a couple on items on which I was comfortable with a BIN amount.

So? So just noticed that instead of marinating for days and days without bids, items with BIN appear to generate bids much faster than other items -- at least the initial one.

Anyone else?

I don't use BIN much for my own auctions but I almost always use it to bid. If I find something I want (usually a DVD) that I've either had a hard time with bidding (getting outbid) or missing the bidding time altogether, I will use the BIN next time I see that item up. I don't use BIN because I have to have the item immediately, I use it to make sure I get what I'm looking for

I have a friend who uses BIN on her auctions and she makes the amount quite high and she's actually had a few auctions end with the BIN.

I use BIN. Love it. Price it right and it turns over in less than 12 hours. List another and do it again. Play it both ways, list one BIN or auction. 5 days is my new game. Like it, cash flow is up too!

Now, will I pay for it? Depends on how much when the time comes. I do pay the 10 cents for the 10 day auctions when I think it's worth leaving it on that long. Good luck.

I LOVE BIN. As a buyer, I hate bidding and watching an auction for 7 or 10 days to get sniped at the end. And as a seller, because I can set the price at what I think is fair, maybe I'll get it right away, or maybe the auction will run all week, and end up going higher in the end. I've only had one BIN bidder go south on me, as compared to ??? that bid on auctions. But if you read the eBay boards, many of the diehards over there HATE it, want it gone, and will place the first bid on things they have no intention of buying, just so no one else can BIN. For those cases, I think the BIN should be extended until someone is willing to pay the BIN price, right up until the end off the auction, whether some little nitwit has bid $1 or not.

BIN is the best thing to counter the "watchers" for non-collectible stuff. I have much better results with it because the bidders are more serious and prompt.

BIN has been great for me so far in the month of January - I had about 10 BIN purchases of card sets or plush toys. Some of them are MO's on the way, some Paypal, instant $$ for shopping for new inventory. Some items are getting snatched up within hours of being listed. And after every one, I go in and relist ASAP...

On the other hand, I have people going the bid route too.. I had a group listed on Monday that all had bids by Tuesday morning... killing the BIN, but keeping them up there longer for more exposure...

My experience to has been bidders disable Bin auctions by trivial low bids. I definitely dont think it would be worth the cost if e bay starts to charge for it. I really don't see where their reasoning for a charge comes from anyway, clears up their resources and expedites the FV to them. Go figure!! Its a BIG win, win for them!!

I love BIN! I only put it on the auctions for things that usually don't go very high, or when there are alot of that item out there. I have ended up getting more money for many items that most likely wouldn't have sold. It's a neat service for both bidders and sellers, but if they charged for it, I would not use it anymore. I don't do many high-ticket auctions, so between eBays new fees and PayPals cut, I am being nickel-and-dimed out of much profit.

I too have tried BIN and get early low bids, I haver referred to these as "spoilers". I do feel that if ebay allowed the BIN to remain available until the auction timed out that we might do better. Theoretically, this would give the auction enough time to be seen (more exposure) and someone might come along and not want to play the waiting game & bid ASAP.
Just my thought on the matter.

I love it BIN! I get the price I want for my items. Is Ebay going to start charging for this feature?

I do not like BIN for this reason:

Recently I listed a CD that sells on Amazon for $16.99. If I had used BIN, I probably would have put the BIN price at $15 or thereabouts.

However, I allow non-US bidders on my auctions... This particular CD was not available in Europe, so two bidders from Italy and France started a little bidding war on my CD and it ended up selling to one of them for $32.

I'd rather not set a limit on what my item might sell for when there is a possibility it will go for much more.

This is not an isolate incident, either... Many of my items, such as CD and DVDs, sell for more than what the bidder could buy it for at Amazon or in their local store. For whatever reason, they are willing to pay a few dollars more to get it from me.
