I hope it is just me and I've been hitting on a slew of shoddy sellers on ebay, but what is up with the all the sky high rates for handling and shipping?? I'm not even talking about the people who fail to mention their shipping fees in their auction listings. I'm talking about people who make statements in auctions like, " we combine to save on shipping", and then receiving the End of auction notice with shipping double of what is stated in the ad! (Multiply items not exceeding the 2lb priority rate).
I'm to the point of not bidding on anything without a 2 page email disclaimer from each and every seller detailing their "handling & service fees". Won't that be a treat when big brother ebay takes over the email service?
I guess it's just becoming not worth the headache of buying on ebay any more. I think I'll go back to the antique malls & antique shows to do my buying!

ok, here is my two cents...
I have only been an active seller on ebay since October.
I used to weigh each item and qoute a shipping price. This became to hard to do and more time than I had.
Now I ship everything PRIORITY mail and charge a flat rate of 4.50 for the first auction and 1.00 for each additional auction won within 7 days.
So far this has worked for me. I sell clothing and toys and shipping costs me between 3.50 and 5.15. I arranged for the postal carrier to pick up from my home and I order my USPS supplies online so the only true cost is the postage.
Some buyers will pay the 4.50 for an item that only costs 3.50 to ship while others will pay 4.50 for something that cost 6.35 to ship.
I truly have had no complaints and as a matter of fact, people tend to buy more than one of my auctions. The funny thing is that I break even on the shipping.
If you all think this is a stupid system, let me know. I am here to learn and hope to have a perfected shipping system soon.
What do you suggest in the shipping area?
I do understand what you are saying as I tried to bid on something that was only 3 inches tall and weighed less than a pound and was qouted a shipping/handling price of 8.00.
