Well, it has finally happened... Here is my feedback record:
973 Positive
1 neutral (unregistered user)
0 negatives

UNTIL TODAY!!! Bidder accidently hit negative instead of postive (I think). Here is the complaint copy and pasted:

User: XXXXXXXXX (83) Date: Feb-03-01 10:21:46 PST Item: 546XXXXXX
Complaint: beautiful selection - fast shipping - thank you

I have written to her because I\'m sure it was a mistake, but gee what a bummer...my first negative and I didn\'t even get a chance to deserve it .

Do you think eBay will change it (ok, everyone quit laughing now). I know its not really that big of deal because it says something good but after it gets buried, no one will know that....Has this happened to any of you or am I just lucky??????

How could that bidder not realize they hit the NEG button?? I ask that because before the NEG actually posts, they get a big screen that comes up saying WARNING! WARNING! You are about to leave a negative feedback!!

How she could have MISSED that screen is beyond me!

Sorry to hear about it anyways! I guess it's worth a try to ask Ebay to remove it...

Just went and read the situations in which Ebay will remove feedback and I'm sorry to say that this isn't one of them

It can't hurt to try ...

973 positive and no negatives is pretty impressive though!

(Edited for too many thoughs and bad spelling - not my day!)

How awfull, eBay should correct the mistake.
I have 412 feedback with 2 neutrals, one a mistake by hitting the wrong button & the other I'm not sure. The item won was broken & I returned the buyers money. She simply said "handled the problem well" & left a neutral. I was upset both times, but what happened to you would really ruin my day. I feel bad for you.

I have had some really crappy things happen in my life, so this is really minor...but it still isn't fair!!!!

TammiAndy - If after contacting the buyer and ebay the negative will stand, you might just post a 'response' to the negative stating it was left in error. Then your buyer can 'respond' that what you said was true...it was a mistake. They meant to leave it as a positive.

Sorry....know the disappointment you must be feeling.

If the buyer was using a software program to leave feedback, she would never see that warning message, so it could happen...still a bummer, though.

Hi,

The same thing happened to me, only in reverse.

Bidder checked off positive, but then left, "Never recieved item".

Knowing he had recieved the item, I wrote to him. He said he got mixed up, and left me the feedback meant for someone else.

I had emailed the bidder to ask what had happened ...was it a mistake or was she unhappy about something. Here is the reply e-mail to me:

"I am so so so so sorry!! I was entering feedbacks with my 2 year old on my
lap and must have hit the wrong button. Can I fix it? I am so sorry- I
know how important this is. Please let me know. I have sent a request thru EBAY to correct my mistake. I will keep you
posted. Again, I am so so sorry. I guess I need to do my email business
when she is taking a nap!"

So thats what happened. Boy, do I feel better that a 2 year old did it and not the bidder...LOL! I guess I just have to look at the humorous side of it, huh?

TammiAndy, I don't know if this will make you feel any better, but a couple of months ago I had some mugs made up with my "Top Ten Auction Peeves" and put them up for Dutch Auction...they sold out in the first 2 days. I think what you have experienced is a #3.

Take a look http://www.auctionbytes.com/auctions/mug6.JPG

"The baby did it."

They bid, too (but they don't pay).

Maybe there should be a warning on computers:

CAUTION: DO NOT HAVE BABY SITTING ON YOUR LAP WHILE DOING IMPORTANT THINGS

I received my reply from eBay...They referred me to Squaretrade.com....Yeh right, I'm going to pay to have a mistake taken off...I don't see what the problem is of taking negative feedback off if the person who left it requests the removal...What legal repercussion can possibly be in question.

BTW, my response to the negative was:

Response: Oops, Bidder's 2 yr old gave me my 1st Neg...LOL
