Has anyone tried those inkjet cartridge refill kits available on Ebay. These cartridge prices are getting ridiculously high! It would be great if the refill kits really worked. Anyone have any experiences they'd like to share?

Hello crystalmc - There was a thread about this where posters shared their experiences.
I have tried to do refills, and it was a mess...leaked...and for me didn't work. But many have had better experiences. Might depend on what type printer you're using too.
Just a hint. You can do a search on AW on many issues that have been discussed on these boards. Just scroll down to the bottom of the page to "search site". When on that page enter what you are searching for, being sure to check the little box that includes information from the message center posts.

I've never tried them, but I have a word of caution - I know that with most major printers if you refill the cartridge it voids the warranty. I've had a couple of friends learn that the hard way. So you may want to double check if you are still under warranty and if using the refills voids it.

There are many dutch auctions where you can get new third party inkjet cartridges dirt cheap. It isn't worth the trouble to refill a $20+ retail cartridge when you can get a budget one for $5 or so on eBay. Just get two or more when you do.

I had problems with a HP printer, could not get the refilled ink cartridges to work right and got tired of spending $60.00 a month. Bought a new LEXMARK Z42 printer, no problem with refilled cartridges, it works great and I am saving money.

I tried a refill for my HP 1200 which uses pretty much the same cartridge as the 1600.
It was too thin and leaked easy and splotched all over. Can't remember the brand of refill though.

I've seen the refill kits at Walmart so they must work. Looks like you insert a syringe into the cartridge and you're done. No personal experience on this though, for the price it seems worth a try next time for me.

I have tride a couple of refill kits. The kind with a syringe -- makes a mess and takes a special skill I must not have. (I worked as a machinist for 5 years) I used another type that used a modified HP cart. with little plugin refills. Hated both. Now I use the refilled models, they come from a remanufactured that cleans them and ensures the electronics works. There is no nome on the nice box they come in I think I got them from aa place called the ink farm or inkfarm or something. The color cart I got from ebay. I prefer the quality of new HP cart's to refills for color. Personally I try to keep my printing to a minimum. My wife prints everything to save it in folders (she has a shelf full of binders). I use the 30 gig hard drive on my new computer. Then I can use search to find what I need. good luck!!
