After 25+ years in this business of specializing in Amish things and primitives, I am unpacking lots of boxes from the attic that belonged to family members who passed on. I never had to know "out here" what to call something cause I didn't have to list it ~ closed my shop last Oct due to age and health. I am unpacking stuff that I haven't the faintest clue....feel like listing things on ebay "old fat glass thing", "cute little red & white fringy things, but not doilies", , but I hate to pay 30¢ a pop without some remote idea of what I am selling. For the past year I only listed things I was somewhat knowledgeable about. This one is driving me nuts..can't find the mark, can't find the pattern, dang thing is a lot older than me and that is old . I wasn't sure how to post URL's here in the forum and didn't want to upload the pics until I know what it is...hate to list as "Real Old Plate".....hope this works and thanks to anybody who might have a clue:
edited cause the click ons didn't work...see below...dixiebee made 'em work

thanks, reddeer, for trying to help. The URL clicks on emails, web pages, etc. Maybe photopoint just doesn't want me to take it into other hosting sites since they are kinda in that business also - if you want to do a lot of extra work from there, that is. Just sorry I took up so much space for nothing...will go back to reading the boards and picking up tips and news. Maybe will list it as "Really Old Neat Plate"

You did it, dixiebee!! Thank you! How'd you do that? That is the very same thing I had at first, just not underlined. I am completely illiterate re computers but usually can do most things from my WebTv.
I am limited tho as WebTv.
Thank you....still can't figure out how you did that ~ didn't work for me when I did the same URL....I changed it when it didn't work...still didn't work. Again, thank you so much

Your plate looks English, or at least European, with a Registry Mark. probably from the late 1800. Could not find the registry No in my book, sorry.

Thanks, Shoshannah. I printed that out so I don't take up so much space and make a big mess on the forum again. Double thanks, cause I never knew what UBB Code was.
I am sending most things to Goodwill that I can't identify but I started researching that plate...couldn't find a darn thing and hated to give up on it. Thing that really makes me laugh is that it says "Garfield" over the "BeeHive" trademark. You know what researching Garfield gets you ....guess it's the pattern name...President Garfield maybe?
Thanks again...I better stop taking up so much space on this before AW boots me..don't want that to happpen.

There is an L.S & S mark from Austria but I agree with Shoshanah that this plate looks to be English and from the late 1800's.
One of my books on English marks says that they have been unable to match the mark to the manufacturer. It says these initials occur on printed garter type marks of the period c.1870-80.

thanks so much, shaani. That was very kind of you and, my, you are quick! I spend days researching and get nowhere. You wouldn't like my attic. The house is 100+ years old and the attic is a "hidden" room...my handyman won't go in there...spooks him....course you have to "tunnel" in..darn hard getting this stuff out. I was sending most of the stuff to Goodwill, but this plate just caught my eye. Things that are valuable to people are still (in my mind) junk we threw out years ago, unless it is really, really old like this plate. Even then I throw them out if they are chipped, etc. Guess I ought to start listing some of it (when I know what it is
Thanks again..really appreciate your help.

Hi again aramatha,
The house is 100+ years old? The attic is a "hidden" room? Possible spooks?
That is my dream! I would love it!
Seriously, check everything before giving it to Goodwill. There is usually always someone around here that can help and you may be surprised what is of value.

shaani, if you would love it sure wish you were here to haul some of this stuff away. The whole place looks like a warehouse and my health not too good. I can't even run auctions as I was doing. I take pics and then can't even find the items again to list them...most days I accomplish little to nothing and spend a lot of hours doing it
No spooks...just sounds like it sometimes. I wouldn't mind if there were, tho my granddaughter thinks there are. She slept here once, said never again. You would love the cellar then, too. The house was built on a foundation dating back to the mid 1700's...big wooden pegs instead of nails in the beams...carpenter told me that. He loved them. Getting too old to keep up with things anymore, but my 5 cats need a home

Your house sounds wonderful! I would love to see it and I have always wanted to buy an old house like that all packed with treasures. It would be great to have ghosts in it also.
Sorry to hear that your health is bad. Here's wishing you the best and thanks for the smiles.

aramatha - Gee... your house sounds like heaven to me!
If I was you I would get that granddaughter of yours over there and help you list these things on ebay. You really don't need to know what it is, let your buyers decided how much it is worth. Spilt your profits with your granddaughter, maybe find some neighbor to list the goods for you and split the profits with them. All Goodwill will do is list the stuff on their own online auction.
If you need a packer... hire a mature kid and teach him how to pack.
If you don't know what it is or can't id an item... just take pictures of any markings and describe what they say in your ads. People on ebay use certain words to find items, like this plate... you could but in that it has a honeybee hive stamp on the back. Someone out there will that knows what it is will buy it.
I wish I knew where you lived or if I lived by you. I would be happy to help you out. But you probably live 1000's of miles away from me.
